Question for the Schedulers (past or present)

Just wondering why they do this? Will I now show up on the scheduling or MSC list as a no show on the system.....

So here it goes:

- While on the road I get the " Can You HELP us " email from a scheduling company for an MSC.

- The instructions read that you must live within 20 miles of the location
the location is listed as being both in NH on line 1 and MA on line 2 with same street address
and that you must make a call then schedule an in person appointment

- I send a quick reply in between shops asking to clarify which state it actually is

- In return I receive clarification

- Within seconds of pulling up a google map to see if I am within the required mile limit,
I receive a "you have been assigned this shop and the due date is today" email

Now I'm thinking whoa that's not very nice.

- I send an " I decline" email back to the scheduler and explain the due date shows today,
and am 4 miles beyond the mileage limit described in the instructions therefore unable to complete this shop

-Scheduler replies with- I had to assign it to you to see how far away you were. I can change the due
date after you complete step 1. Attached are the guidelines. And within the body of the letter is a link
saying if you do not confirm by clicking this link or emailing the scheduler within 24 hours this shop will
be removed

- Couldn't open the guidelines on the road so email the scheduler and ask that she copy and paste them and send

- Keep checking while on the road and nothing no reply

At this point I'm thinking scheduler got someone else or it was removed from me because I did not confirm

But nooo instead the next morning I get a snarky email from the scheduler. She writes: the reason you can't open anything
is because you did not confirm this shop.

Well duuuuh, how do I confirm when I can't look at the guidelines.

So I send my second "I must decline email" to the scheduler.

I think this is the scenario that plays out when reports and scores get down graded and fees decreased at pay out time.

Ironically the MSC is a notoriously slow payer and has a history of decreasing shop payments. This is based on the numerous posts here that go back over quite some time.

^ PS why are my sentences above so indented and all over the place? Would it be the formatting on the forum or something I am doing wrong. Either way eegads it looks horrendous.
I got a little of that in a post I just made. Might be the forum.

Some of the shopping platforms are set up so you do have to confirm to see the guidelines. Unfortunately that is just the way it is set up. Also schedulers realize when shoppers are on the road things happen especially when you are trying to fit something it...its worth it to them to work with you so it would have likely been fine to click confirm just to see the guidelines. The due date also can often be changed. Schedulers typically start with short due dates to see what can come in fast and be done. If the schedulers put the true due date on the form there would be way too much work at the end of the month and a lot of reschedules that couldn't work out at the end of the month.

I was a former scheduler that did the compliance shops and I know I was very happy when one of those 18-21 year olds was traveling and contacted me. I could do a lot to work with their schedule.

Hope that helps.

@ Traveliz. Thanks for letting me know this. What I was envisioning was a computer screen that shows the shop assigned with
a due date of say 5/30/14. Then due date extended to say 6/2/14. Now if the scheduler got busy and did not note the account that the shopper took same day shop and that the due date was bumped up by scheduler the end result could be decreased pay or rejected shop. On the same hand this could happen if she forgot to note that I lived 4 miles outside of the requirement.

In this case waste of time for both the shopper and scheduler.

Am I off base to think this scenario exists?
The scheduler however would still be able to work with you. I don't see this happening as if you are on the road working to get something done for a scheduler that is a top priority for her even if she is busy. Either I was an easy go with the flow scheduler or I am a trusting shopper but these things don't bother me so much. It can typically be worked out. I have shopped since the late 90s and have had so few problems I would be hard pressed to list them here. Only one and it was scheduling related to awhile to sort out but it was sorted out. A few others were my mistakes and that happens. The above scenario wouldn't bother me as a scheduler or a shopper.
