Maritz: Program Updates

Has anyone noticed that the E-mail for the gs shop has advised that shoppers must include a required picture of the counter if the attendant at the counter refuses to have their torso photo taken?

I've searched through the July updates I saved before beginning the July shops and cannot find anything about this. Therefore, I am assuming that this is a true update of the July updates, not a reminder.

I've only had a few instances of attendants being hesitant to having their photos taken. When I explain it shall not be including their face, they consent.

No, it was in the original info somewhere. I don't remember where it was and I'm too lazy to find it this morning, but I do know it was there because I made a note of it.
It's a paragraph on the original July LOA. It's also on page 20 of the July update, with red highlighting, and it was covered in one of the quiz questions.
@Ishmael: So you are saying that if the attendant refuses the photo, a counter photo must be taken instead?

I have the July LOA and do not see anything regarding a counter photo if the attendant refuses the photo capture.

I just checked page 20 of the July update, it does not say anything regarding a counter photo if the attendant refuses to have their torso photo taken.

The Maritz e-mail says: "Please review the attached update letters/documents for NEW shop requirements beginning in July 2014. You should also review all the documents online for more details of the changes made this period/quarter.

New changes are highlighted below:
Q13 – Were all Sales Team Members presented in a clean and neat uniform? (page 20 in requirement guide)

Beginning July 1, 2014, an employee photo should be taken of the cashier who assisted you. The photo should NOT include the employee’s face (just the torso). However, you MUST receive permission to take the photo.

If the employee refuses the photo, you should take a photo of the counter space only.

NOTE: Employee photo of the cashier who assisted you is to be taken regardless if the employee is in uniform or not. The photo you take must NOT include the face of the employee (just the torso). Remember, employees may refuse to have their photo taken. You are still required to provide a photo if refused, should be of the counter space."

Since Maritz is referring to it as an update, it might not be in the original guidelines which were available in June. But these are clearly the new guidelines for July. Somewhere in their paperwork, they recommend checking the guidelines weekly for any updates or changes to the program.

@Shop2liveinFla: That is what I was referring; The original July updates did not include the counter photo alternative. The e-mail that came out on 11 July advises the counter photo.

I suppose it really does not matter - I've done about 40 shops before the E-mail came out - most have been edited and approved. Some are still awaiting approval.

I just wanted to ensure I had skipped something.
I'm sure Maritz sent out the update after they started receiving reports where the shopper said that the employee refused to have their photo taken even though the photo would not show the employee's face. Maritz can not refuse a report prior to the update for not having the counter photo. But once the update was sent out, they now have a reason to decline a report.

I have not had an employee refuse the photo...yet. When we used to have to get a signature on the LOA, I had one employee refuse to sign anything ever. He even called his manager at home and told her that he refused to sign it.

I had a shopper refuse to sign. It made my shop quick. Recently, I've had a shopper refuse to have the photo taken. She seemed to be angry. Oh well.

I do remember when it was with the old company, the employee was busy talking with her friend in another language. Unfortunately for them, I also spoke that language (my native language). I hadn't said anything to them prior. They were running each customer down, as if critiquing them and their apparel, makeup, hair, etc.

when I gave them the LOA, I spoke in the same language.

That's one of life's really satisfying moments!

It's a moot issue, since we all know it now, but at the bottom of page 20 in the full standard guidelines, right under the pictures of people with their heads cut off, is a red-highlighted paragraph telling us to take a counter picture if the person refuses a photograph. And it's question 22 of the quiz. As I see it, there's no need for the LOA to mention a counter photo. They know we're there to take photos. No one's ever said, "What are you doing?", as I snap the picture of the obsolete credit card applications at the paypoint.

Tatjana,

Look on page 1 of the July Update Letter #1. The photo update is highlighted in yellow at the bottom of the page. And yes, if the attendant declines to have his torso photoed a picture if the counter space is required. The new drug and porno updates are on page 2.

I have debriefed and invoiced several July shops and uploaded the shirt/torso photo (or counter space photo in one instance) at the photo icon for question 13 as there is no icon at the top with the other overall photos. So far so good - nothing came back on hold.

I have seen only two instances of drug paraphernalia, both E-Z Wider rolling papers with no loose tobacco for sale and had no resistance in telling the attendant that I need to take a photo. I am a little more concerned if I find more serious infractions like hookars or bongs. But I'll cross that bridge when/if I come to it.

No Playboy magazines or any magazines for that matter.

My one and only counter shop was at a remote location. I missed it the first time. When I came back, the cashier almost jumped away from the counter saying she hated having her picture taken. So it was a non-issue.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

I'm sorry, my pdf copy of the July Update letter #1 does not have that. I believe there is some confusion - In the original July Update, there was no mention of the counter photo to be taken as an alternative when the attendant refuses. It is in the NEW July Update Letter #1 from the E-mail dated July 11.

My original comment was regarding the very first update information that all of us should look at. As a matter of practice, I save the updates in pdf form; therefore, I have the originals. Hence - no mention of counter photo.

As Ishmael says, the point is moot, the company has changed its requests.

I suppose that is why they did not admonish me when the attendant refused the photo on one of my shops prior to 11 July.
I sure like how Bare does it. When they change their guidelines for their "most common" shop, they highlight the changes in yellow and call attention to them. Makes it easy to stay up to date without having to read every word of the guidelines for a shop you've done a dozen times. And they get the shop done right the first time when they make a change.

Having multiple versions of July Update Letter #1 is just wrong. If they changed it, it should be July Update Letter #2.

Give us a chance to do it right!
Tatjana - try this, I just did: (I believe we are talking about the Pegasus stations)

In the Current Shops section click on the Visit ID
Go to Material & Links section & Click on Print/View Other Project Documentation
Click on July Update Letter #1
On the bottom of pg 1 the new uniform requirements are yello highlighted
The new drugs & porn requirements are on pg 2

Hope this helps.
