Shame on GFK - Totally Unethical Behavior

I save ALL emails. Have had them "disappear" or "have no record" on their end, too many times not to.

Not saying your company, but... in general.

I truly believe it to be a communication/language issue, and not a snarky comment.

BBird0701, well the issue is, that I'm about 95% sure that 100% of the proofers are all US citizens. Now that might mean that they are ESL, but they have to have an SSN to work for the company. So I am a bit concerned that it might be snarkiness. Would you mind forwarding me that email? donna.goodwin@gfk.com

Just wondering, and pardon my non-tech-sav-i-ness, but how can an email completely "disappear" from someone's inbox? Can the sender actually retrieve it without a trace? If I'm pirating this thread, momentarily, I apologize, however I swear that happened to me last week with an a mail from another MSC.

(heart)

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
My "disappearances" typically happen when I respond to an email for a shop with a bonus, but the shop gets assigned to me at regular fee, no bonus. When I point out the discrepancy, they say "I'm sorry, I don't have that email, I don't know the terms on which it was assigned.".... O...K... so how did you know to assign it to me? I then happily forward the email they appear to have lost.

Or when I request a shop through email, but get assigned the wrong location or date. Again, "no record" of that.

Stilllearning,

I know that there are many excuses on ALL fronts so I am not defending that.

However, we know that a good portion of email never arrives. Below is a link to a more reputable company reporting on this issue (it's a report from 2011 but I do not think much changes). So check this out...and see just how large that percentage truly is:

Just in case stuff like that interests you,

BBird0701,

OK, well let me know if you change your mind, just forward it over. Since all of the proofers have to have an SSN or EIN, they have to legally be able to work here in the US. So it could be an ESL situation, but it should not be any other language issue than that.

Thanks,
Donna

Of course the proofing supervisor is NOT named Donna. My original post said I complained TO Donna AND THEN a 2nd person who was the proofing supervisor emailed me.

I'm sure Donna appreciates when a thread is forwarded to her so she can reply....but get the FACTS straight if you're going to intervene. I can only wonder what your motive is when you TWIST the words in my post.

So to be CLEAR, the proofing supervisor/editing supervisor was named Lisa Laurie. However, I suspect that is actually an alias and her real name is Laurie Irwin. She owns wordsmithpros (wordsmithpros.com) and she lists her name on the site. The company is American. Once again, I'm not "outing" her because she lists her name on the ABOUT US page of her own site.

I would be VERY HAPPY to name each and every one of the editors names also. Let me know if that will become necessary.

AnonymousNYC,

Sorry, it's likely because I am very badly jetlagged, but I am not understanding your first two paragraphs. I was not trying to twist you words, I just was trying to understand. Did you complain to me (Donna Goodwin)? Another Donna?

Lisa Laurie is indeed Lisa Laurie. And Laurie Irwin is Laurie Irwin. It does get confusing to us too but that's their names and they are two people.

As for your original issue, could you please email me the shopIDs? I am sorry I do not understand what happened here and why the changes were made. Maybe there is a good reason and maybe there is not but there is no way for me to determine that without looking at the shop. I look forward to help you with this!

Thanks,
Donna

I'm not clear on whether BBird's anecdote about the "nonsense" email came from someone at GfK. I rather thought they were just mentioned something of similar idiocy that happened to them, not necessarily by GfK. Maybe BBird could clarify that.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
It was GfK.

I've gotten waaaaay worse from Gapbuster.

Okay, just checking cuz sometimes our threads wander a bit.

that one of yours definitely felt ESL to me. Just because someone is an American citizen doesn't mean they speak English well, which of course makes me wonder why they are editing the words of other people.

And I'll willingly go on record here as saying that with the number of Americans who are still out of work it positively infuriates me when American companies or companies who do business in America outsource their phone support (or anything else) to people in other countries, whether they speak English well or not (which they usually don't). I don't even answer the phone for Market Force's foreign schedulers. I've got them in my contact list so I don't accidentally answer the phone when they call.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I'm in wholehearted agreement with you on that.

AnonymousNYC,

Sorry, it was NYC last week, Chicago this week and I am trying to keep up. I looked at the shop you sent me and since you did not have the itemized receipt, there was nothing I could do. I'm so sorry. Those take out shops can be difficult and you really have to check the receipt before you leave the store to make sure they have it.

Now, I still need to follow up on the proofer though. What you forwarded me (as far as I could see), did not have the interactions you described from the proofer. It was just the: Thank you for your update. However, an itemized receipt showing what you ordered is required. You must update your report by end of day 9/2. You had mentioned cell phone shops in your original post, but I do not see any rejected cell phone shops. Also, the interaction with the proofer? Do you have that in email format? The one you sent was the restaurant shop. Sorry, I really want to help here!

Sorry, I do admit to being a bit blurry eyed so let me know if I am missing something!

Thanks,
Donna

PS. I sent you an email too with more specific details.
That does not sound anything like what was posted.

BBird0701,

Yes, but surely it's just me. I have been travelling a lot for a client the last 3 weeks and I still have 3 weeks to go so I admit to not being the most clear headed right now. I logged on this morning in case there was a follow-up but I have all day sessions today/tomorrow so my online time will be a bit limited. I will check back in!
