which MS companies pay at decent rate?

I have 10 years experience but I got out of it for 5yrs to do Auctions. I got divorced and moved so now I have time to get back into it. Any leads as I looked on this site and I saw some shops are only paying $5.00 fee and reimburse $9.00. I make more money than that working online. Any help with looking for companies that have a higher rate than $5.00?

Most pay more than $5.

Just reactivate your MS accounts, or sign up with companies you aren't signed up with yet. You'll find the decent-paying shops sooner or later.

Newbies may not see much more than $5 shops until they've done some of them and proven they are reliable. If you registered as a newbie, that may be why. Also, we just ended the month so September shops are just starting to appear for some companies. You may see more shops in a day or two.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
@ BillBryan: good newbie, good, good! Good for you for catching on so quickly and kudos for explaining it well to another newbie.

There's is lots of information and lots of help here, but no spoon-feeding....... we do train our competitors here but we draw the line at handing over our client list.
I know at least one MSC pays $60 for non-video car shops, $14 for banks, and $135 for video car shops.

Bill Bryan, shoppers in the East Coast or Mid-West will not lose shops to competition if they reveal secrets to their West Coast shoppers. So why so reluctant to share MSC's ?
I make a good living at this and wouldn't consider any shop under $15 even with reimbursement. I don't know who offers only $5 a shop..

Because many of us have friends all over the USA and Canada. We protect each other along with ourselves. We have all worked hard to build our client lists and to maintain them. For example, I do not live in the area near L.A. but a good friend of mine shops a small town near there and does many of the same shops I do. I would no more reveal her client list than I would reveal my own. And if I learned someone on the East or West Coast was giving away the "best companies and highest paying shops" in my location, I would be outraged. I would be likely to reveal their secrets to their competitors.

Bill Bryan has the right idea.

I agree with AustinMom. Many forum members are route shoppers and travel all over the US and Canada. And I have enough competition in my area so no way am I revealing my client list. And laziness will not go over well in this forum. As members say over and over again, read all the threads/posts and use the "Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies" listed at the bottom of this page. You need to put the sweat equity into building up YOUR business.

Right on!

For myself, I had no one (and not even this forum because I didn't know about it until last year)

I read everything I could and then found this forum and read more and registered with companies that shoppers said were reliable. Lots of hard work and it's paying off now. I would never help anyone in my area and I know two members here who ARE in my area. (from what they've been posting.)

No offense, but...business is business. smiling smiley
@ Canuck ~ Doesn't half of your area flock to my area in the winter months? :-P

It really depends on the situation. Businesses in the same
exact business help each other all the time and sometimes
team up together. Samsung and Apple hate each other
yet Samsung makes a substantial portion of the iphone.

Two people in the same area could team up and corner
a market on shops with rotation every other month.

I know I cant be the only person who has ever tracked
down the other shopper in an area to have a chat with
them. Or maybe I am.

Techman, it'd make sense for two shoppers to sit down and say "Hey, you should take all of the a, b, c audits this month, and I'll take the x, y, z shops." That way they're not doubling over each other's tracks, traveling further than need be, and and can really streamline a smooth process. That's basic business courtesy, good business strategy, and it's profitable for both parties.

What does not make sense is handing over your list of clients that you dutifully built to someone who doesn't possess even the basic business ethics or drive to find out for themselves....just because they asked. That's profitable for only one party, a payout without any sweat equity, and results in loss of profit for the other shopper.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
It's one thing to share a territory with someone who is sharing back, someone of comparable experience, and who will hold out for the same level of pay you do. Something else to get your schedulers trained that you required "X" amount for a certain shop and then have some newbie come in at your after you mention the shop and fee rate in your area and start taking that shop at "X minus $5," thus undercutting you and driving the fees down.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Just be weary of the shops that pay $400 smiling smiley

Now a few do, like hotel shops or a long route, but most pay $10-15 and go from there...

I just got off a route through the Mid-West and East Coast. I am not in either of those areas.

Also, more people than just the person who asked will read the post. What if I tell you about the great yummy new shop I did on Saturday. You're no where near me I would assume. What's stopping the shopper down the street from reading the post and grabbing my yummy new shop next month?

The yummy shop that bgriffin refers to is Pinkberry in NOLA. I don't think anyone grabbed it while we were there. The whole exterior was under construction and the sidewalk was torn up. I saw three employees through the window and no customers.

Oh ya, I don't live in NOLA. winking smiley

He is grabbing something but I don't think it is your shops. Unless "shops" is code for something else!

Well it does help when you have a blinking neon sign pointing to your bedroom window saying "Peek here for a big surprise!"
