MSC with Old and New Names List

Does anyone else find Mystery Shopping Company name changes and merges a bit mind-bending?

I've seen the old name as the domain in the scheduling email, the new name in the website address, and the invoice in Paypal has the new name....or maybe the old name again. I don't mind change but just received $125 from a company that had changed its name and it took awhile to reconcile my records.

Would a list of old/new names be helpful? I don't know for sure but here's a start:

Cori / Stericycle
Service Sleuth / HS Brands / The Mershimer Group

Maybe you could ask Jacob to create a "sticky" thread for this area of the foum with a list of name changes. That might be more efficient than treying to edit the list of MSCs at the bottom of the page.

Another option for Jacob is that name changes could be reflected in the Official List of MS Companies, possibly with cross-references. That way, we could rely on the list, rather than the list and an additional sticky in this section of the board.

That was the reason my three email addresses were on three accounts under the same MSC over the years and I was given a public citation for having "signed up with the same company more than once." When I posted it, some 'holier than thou' posters came out of the woodwork and accused me of many things. I checked at Volition and discovered many instances of name changes in MSCs.

Funny thing is the MSC who I asked to remove my name did not and I am active there, though I would not have known they were one and the same.

I have encountered similar problems with merchandising companies. I am so busy that I get peeved at having to sign up again with a company I'm already signed up with, especially if it involves a different method of payment. At least in merchandising, I probably can guess which company it is because the timing of assignments is different.

I just got a message from Retail Market. I went to the page to contact them. They are located in Britain!!! She informed me that this was a fraud company and gave me an email to report them. I tried the email and it did not work. So who do I believe???

In this day of MSC mergers, one never knows who to work with or why. Track records of the MSC people do not show but you can bet your bippie, that if you have an negatives or run ins with editors or schedulers as a shopper...It will show. What is good for the goose is not good for the gander. Is there not standard in our industry that will spank the hands of bad MSC people. The answer is a giant resounding NO!

Has California Marketing Specialist changed to "Shops Training and Results"? I cannot get any replies for CMS and they owe me for a shop I did back in August. When trying to find a phone number for them I came accross a name change. Anyone know about this company? Thanks.

I wonder how long the companies keep the old site active. I know that I still see some shops on some but others I never find anything. It would cut down on my time when I look for shops if they would close the site or at least have someone here make a list of those that are no longer valid sites.
