Re: Maritz & Direct Deposit

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is having a good week ! After working for Maritz for over 6 years,
it finally happened, one of my checks got lost (sort of), my last check took over 11
days to reach me (Texas) I called payroll, because I thought
it was lost so they canceled the check and are sending me another one.
Anyway, it got me to thinking why doesn't Maritz do direct-deposit for their long
term contractors. I have a feeling I know the answer, but I was just curious as
to what other folks that work for Maritz think the reason is. Your feedback is
appreciated.

Take care...

I wish they did. It would make life easier...

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
I've lived long enough to realize that it always comes down to money.

it cost less for direct deposit then it does to print and mail a check.

Breaking News: mrcomputer said something negative about martiz.

That's why I don't understand them not using direct-deposit, except maybe they have
such a high turn-over of contractors, and don't want to go to the trouble of setting
up direct deposit. I'm sure the contractors vary from week to week, but I would
think for long term contractors they should have the option of a check or direct-deposit.
I get a check twice a month from them and I don't have a problem with that. What I would like is a more detailed commission report so that I could reconcile their payments with individual shop earnings, including bonuses.
Maritz computers trying to interface with yet another portion of the outside world? 'Nuff said.
Think about it. Maritz lives in a corner of the world where it is still 1980. Direct deposit is still off in the future. Haven't they told you about their new Princess phones with dial pads instead of rotary dials?

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
Maritz will not get direct deposit because they barley can turn on this magical computer. They would then have to learn how to use it even more. Oh no that's asking way way too much.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
What I don't understand about Maritz is how they have what appears to be a custom developed website if they are behind on the computer side of things. It is much more difficult to do that than it is to use a prebuilt platform such as Sassie instead.

The only issue I have with the website is the lack of batch photo uploading.

It can be frustrating when you have many photos to upload to a single question and need to go back to the report and upload the next photo and go back to the report again each time.

Other than that one thing, I have no issues with the way the website is designed at all.
Scanman, what kind of report are you doing that you can't upload everything on the last page? I do several different type shops for them and without exception I upload all the pictures on one page at the end. I ignore the camera icons inside the report, enter all the data, and hit submit. Then the last page comes up with slots for all the photos. You must be working a client I don't shop or audit.

Mary Davis Nowell. Based close to Fort Worth. Shopping Interstate 20 east and west, Interstate 35 north and south.
I can't mention the client, but it may be possible I don't fully understand the website and am doing things the hard way!

I'll have to investigate the site a little harder next report I do for them. I was hitting the camera button and getting a green checkmark for each photo as I went through the survey.

I didn't think to add photos *AFTER* I submitted the shop.

Now that you mention it, I do see a page that shows all the photo's after the shop is submitted.

If you don't load the photos along the way through the report, that final screen will have upload slots for all standard and negative photos.
I have seen a lot of delays in the daily mail. What used to take two days now takes 4-5, in the same state. USPS has gotten so bad. Not sure why hey are still operating. I have a constant beef with them. If it is not one thing, it is another. Delays, wrong mail, late male as late as 8 pm.

Several months ago I received a check for a CA shopper that was stuck to my Maritz payment in MA. It went all the way through multiple post offices and a carrier without anyone detecting. The best part was that I offered to place in an envelope and mail to the correct person and they told me to send it back to them. I told them I could take a picture of what I received but they wanted to send it themselves so I addressed and envelope to Maritz and put a stamp on it and sent it back. Direct deposit is much more effective as many people don't go to the bank anymore.

That is true, you can enter all your data, then click finish, and then upload all the photos at once. However, if you want to upload more than 1 photo for one particular no (you have 3 handwritten signs) you can not do that in this manner. You must go back into the question in the data entry screen multiple times. THAT is what frustrates me.
@treydawgmt, inre uploading 3 handwritten signs: I have reported on the report that there were many handwritten signs (often as many as the entire station's dispensers).

I submit the report, sans photos, and await the final screen. It is here where, they ask for the photos and, where I submit the photos for upload..

They have never asked for more than one photo of the multiple infractions of the same type. I have never been asked to submit multiple photos of the same infraction, regardless of the amount of infractions of the same kind.

Methinks you are overthinking this part.
Hello txguitar,
I just did the same thing three days ago LOL! I had to call and check on a check I either lost or did not get, still not sure. But anywho I ask them and they canceled that check and cut me another the lady said it will be about 7 to 10 days after the payment department sends it. I do wish they direct deposited as the others do, or even paypal is preferable to an actual check. I live in the sticks and it is hard to get to the bank. My regular job is even direct deposited. I love the company though they are great to pay. I do wish they would answer emails better though.

I live in the sticks also, so I can relate to going to the bank it's a PITA. I wonder if enough
shoppers requested direct deposit, if Maritz would consider it ? I'm going to ask payroll
if they've ever considered direct deposit or paypal ?
One thing I have started to do is direct deposit checks via my smart phone. I know many don't like the idea, but it is a thought. Most major banks have the capability now and provide the app. It is fast, painless and you can do it from your couch. :-)

@Tatjana - you are correct. I have done it that way many times. However, I have done hundreds if not thousands of gas station shops across multiple platforms over the past 12 years. Some of these stations have SO MANY "No" responses. They may have a damaged valance on one pump, skirt on another, and still yet nozzle on a third. All these are a "no" to the same single question. Yes, I don't HAVE to upload all the photos, but I'd rather so if they think the first isn't really bad enough to be a no, they see the full picture.
Baylee, I do the direct deposit via smartphone too. However, it is still faster to get direct deposit from the company themselves as you don't have to worry about lost or stolen mail. Plus, snail mail is slower to receive the check.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.

That is not exactly direct deposit. You still have to have the actual check in your hands. It just saves a trip to the bank.

Maritz lost an October check of mine. They have stopped payment on it but I still have not received the reissued check. It was a high amount check too which sux.

I submit my report without uploading any photos.
The next page pops up for photo uploads of the entire report.
I do it that way for gas and blue bank reports.

Maritz is such an internal mess...their accounting person is there once a week. They could not handle Direct Deposit.
They have more than one accounting person; I talked to two of them during the same phone call. And they are not there just once a week. Right now they are short because of the holidays.
11 DAYS???????

I waited for my check over 3 months.

AFTER several emails to them, NO response, I called and left a message. In return, I got an message from ??? who said, "Normally, we do not call our shoppers......" So, I have not chose to work for them again............

AND, they do not respond to emails. They seem to pay IF you bring it up first... I had four jobs waiting and AFTER performing, they weren't in my to do list and no one answered me back.. worked and gas up to Boulder for nothing and no response.

I think you are confused about the MSC. Maritz is known for calling their shoppers (sometimes to the point of being annoying) and they prefer that shoppers call them when there is an issue. They are NOT tech savvy and therefore rarely send or receive email. And they usually pay like clockwork so that is why I started to wonder where my check was. From other shoppers' responses, everyone was receiving their checks sooner than I did.
