So glad you took the time to ask. It is a total scam. Stericycle is a reputable company and the check is not actually from them. This is so "not normal" that, to the experienced, it screams "SCAM"! If something seems too good to be true....

Just think, now the scammers get you to cash the check, buy a product and send that to them too!

Never, Never, Never cash a check for any company. They are all SCAMS!
I just received one such letter and check in the mail. Was your's also from a Marcus Smith?
It seems that when anyone starts to mystery shop they get these checks. I received a check for $1800 the second month that I was mystery shopping. Luckily I had done research so I knew they were a scam. Those scammers are using real companies names and when you are new they may catch you. The thing that bothers me is how did they know my address and why was it sent federal express? These people are good....
I started in 2008 and have never received one of those checks.

I have also been shopping since 2008. I received two before starting, but have not received one since beginning.
I've never received a check either. Whew!
I recieved one of those cheques once.

I've only been doing this since April. And I have aready received one of those checks (cheques.) A friend of mine actally tried to prosuade me to cash it. I said, "Are you stupid? It's a Scam." I would like to believe I would have known that before beginning my career as a Mystery Shopper. But I will never really know now. I remember reading about them on one of the First MSC sites I registered on, don't remember which one, a lot of them list this scam on their page. I also remember thinking, of course that's a scam. Who in their right mind would fall for that? But then again, my friend just received an email from a Lawyer, claiming that his long lost Uncle, whom he had never heard of before, had died. And he has an inheritance coming to him. He knew it was a scam, yet he still emailed the scammer back! I don't get it!

well today I got one of those checks and knew it was something fishy about someone sending you a random check in the mail and still trying to figure out how did they get my address I have not signed up with anything to do this type of work this is crazy I don't know who to turn the check to like the police department or what ugh I really don't like this kind of thing coming to my home in I live in usa- Atlanta Georgia this is sooo not right... be safe everyone out there don't get yourself caught up and see money and then be in jail for a fake check NOT worth it at all..
I took the one I got to the police. They didn't sound like it was much use, however some time ago a group running this scam were caught in Calgary Alberta. So, they do get caught some times.
