I was invited to check out B. Business Solutions at bizshoptalk.com. I checked them out through the forum here and they obviously are legit.
They sounded interesting and on their front page they have a "shopper scam warning" in which one of the statements they make is "We only collect personal shopper information at our secure website."
So I proceeded to their application form. Before I entered anything, I checked the web page's security (as I always do). There wasn't any. The statement made in their scam warning is not accurate. The application form is NOT on a secure website and it asks for a LOT of personal information. A company may throw around pretty words like secure website, but that does guarantee the safety of our personal data. If you enter your personal info on an unencrypted site, it may be hackable.
I check to make sure a page I am entering personal data onto is an "[
"]; page, NOT just "[
"];. I copy the address from my brower and paste it into notepad to reveal that information even though you don't actually see it in the brower's address window. I also right click on the page and ask to view page info and it tells whether the connection is encrypted and, if so, at what level.
I will not be completing their application form because of this. Which is a shame, because I really was interested in working with them.
