Bestmark -- recommend or not?

I am considering becoming a mystery shopper. I researched a bit about Bestmark but would like to hear what you experienced professionals have to say.

Welcome to the forum! Bestmark are just fine. I do quite a bit of work for them and they pay fairly quickly (about two weeks I believe).
I have always been treated fairly by Bestmark..

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
I have had very good experiences with BestMark. They pay quickly, and from my experience, if they need additional information, they don't ding you on your shop pay.
BestMark is a great company to start mystery shopping. Their shops are not too difficult but they do like the narrative. I found when I started it got me up to speed on my writing since it was not just checking a box. They have some fun clients also, best of luck to you.
When I started out (last February), I did my first shop with BestMark. It was a good experience, and I've done multiple shops for them since. Their instructions are clear and easy to understand, they're not nit-picky, and they pay promptly (within 2 weeks - nice!). Go for it, you've chosen a good company to start with. Good luck! :-)
I'm a big fan of BestMark! I've never had any issues; I've been contacted by the editors a couple of times to clarify information in my survey forms, but have never been docked payment for the contact time and I believe it was simply for clarification purposes so the client doesn't return to them with questions. The shop instructions are very detailed (daunting to some at first glance BUT they provide you with ALL information you need), and you typically receive payment in two weeks... and for the past couple of years they processed payment every week during the holiday season!
Frodosdojo, WHY?

i agree with all comments above - great place to start. i am a beginner myself and I like them very much. Especially because their payment prompt and I never have problems with reports.
Great company to start with. Dependable pay. Clear instructions, including sample reports. Good support.

I did my first shop with Bestmark, they don't pay well for the most part, and they require a lot of narrative in their reports but they are legit and their editors are fair and work with you. I highly recommend them.

I remember my first shop with them. I thought I was going to throw up with all the narrative. I said "never again." Well? I did more and more of them and after a bit, it wasn't so bad.

They paid like clockwork. No fooling around with this company. smiling smiley

I still shop with them and I still wonder 'why all of the narrative?'

They pay vary poorly for what they expect from you. If you search for them on this forum there are many comments about them. If you are new to this they are fine to do a few shops for. Once you get experience and work for a lot of companies you may want to stay clear of them
Don't be telling us to stay clear of them. Come on now. They are a good company and deserve better than that.
There are a lot of negative posts from people on this site about Bestmark Canuck. They pay much lower for there car shops then other companies do and require a lot more information.
So, you are saying that low pay makes them a bad company to complete assignments for?

I disagree. While their shops may be a little thick on the narrative, and may be on the low end of the amount of payment, I have never had a bad experience with BestMark, and they pay like clockwork. They are a good starter company to help you improve your narrative writing. The editors and staff I have dealt with are fair and friendly.

Arguing with fools is like playing chess with a pigeon...
...No matter how good you are, the pigeon will s@^t on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Not scheduling for ANY company.
I am not saying that low pay makes them a bad company. For what they expect to done the pay is terrible.

But on the plus side, they give you samples of their narratives, tell you what they want you to do and from my own personal experience, they don't reject many shops. The don't pay well, but what I have gotten from them in learning how to write a good report is very valuable to me.

Bestmark doesn't have many shops in my area, but I did manage to find one a couple of weeks ago.

It was my first shop for them, 50 miles away, but the $40 reimbursement was for something I desperately needed anyway. It paid $30 and included $26 travel pay so I was happy with the money. The report was not very long and very easy to complete with a little less narrative than I expected and mostly radio button questions.

Another thing I forgot to mention was that I was concerned when I was reading over the instructions and all that they deduct $x if they have to edit for spelling/grammar $x if they have to contact me for clarification, $x for a late report, etc. It sounded like I'd literally have to mind my P's and Q's or they'd nickle and dime me to death.

I was especially worried because of the decent pay for the shop as well as travel pay, that they'd find any excuse to knock off a few bucks. I received 100% of the pay as promised, and very quickly.

I have not found them to go over board, they give you samples of how they want the report written, I think that if you write like they show you there probably won't be a problem. All that a person can do is try right?

That's right, Pammie. I was quite pleased with the outcome and have no complaints.

Never had a problem with BestMark.

I completed more shops in 2013 because I had an older car which was the make they were looking for for service calls. Friends like me better now since i can borrow their car for whatever the shop calls for.

Pay is decent most of the time for the shops in my area and they pay in a reasonable amount of time...usually within 2 weeks. No deductions either. If you read the instructions and don't make mistakes, then you don't have to worry about deductions.
GREAT company, Janelmb. I've been them for about 8 years. One piece of advise I didn't see specifically addressed. When Bestmark says "report is due by" i.e. 11:00 am CST you need to have it completed BY THAT TIME or they deduct pay ($2.00 from my experience) OR it may auto cancel. There is no leeway in that regard with Bestmark.
