Call from a 385 Area Code

Hi All,

Recently, I have been receiving calls form a 385 area code wanting me to do a shop for a home improvement type store. She says I have to do the shop with a partner and that it pays $100. When I ask what MSC it is, she simply says Shadow Shopper. I realize Shadow Shopper is a legitimate company, however when I go on the job board I find nothing remotely close to this job. She just called 4 times in a row without leaving a voicemail, so I finally picked up.

Anyone else receive these calls or have any information they could share?

Shadow Shopper is a job listing board that charges you a membership fee to see jobs in your area. They aren't an MSC. I refuse to pay them for job listings, but I get their spam multiple times a day. I seriously doubt they called you though. I'm betting on a scam.

We will always contact you via email. If you do receive a letter in the postal mail claiming to be from ShadowShopper (with a realistic looking logo), and asking you to mystery shop by cashing a large check - THROW THAT OFFER AWAY. It is a Nigerian check scam ring pretending to be ShadowShopper.

sounds like a hoax to me.

Seems to me if they know you're a shopper and they have your phone number, just ask them to email the offer to you. They should have your address, so don't provide it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have asked them to send me the offer by email and have not received one as of yet. I too thought SCAM right away, but had to check with the experts first!

Call the number back and see how they answer it. Did she think you asked how she found you? Are you listed with Shadow shopper?

I'm curious about this.

She didn't ask for any money up front. Did you ask her to send you a link to a website to sign up?
