Maritz is stressing me out!

@djac441719: It sounds to me like you are thinking that the invoicing is part of the report you submitted (the part where it asks you to add your copy of the receipt).

If that is true, then you should submit the receipt as part of the invoice. This is a separate action than the report itself.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Why would you have to either take another photo or scan the receipts again if you already had them to upload to the report?

For invoicing Maritz requires the receipts to be photographed together. I usually take a photo of each individual receipt and then place the two receipts side by side for the invoicing requirement. It would be nice if someday they could combine both receipts for the shop instead of uploading two so that it would be consistent with their invoicing requirement.

I always submit a single photo of both receipts together, in the report and for the invoice. It's always accepted.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
Apparently I was not submitting the receipt with the invoice. I just thought if I submitted the receipt with the report and I could see the image that it automatically was attached to the invoice.

I do not remember seeing a place to upload a receipt with the invoice is submitted, but obviously there is a place for that.
@djac441719: If you have not found the place on their website, here is how can find it:

1) Log in to the website
2) Click on My Current Shops tab at the left on their menu.
3) The window will open to a My Current Shops heading. To the right of that in smaller print are the selections (links), View Completed shops and Submit an Invoice.
4) Click on the Submit an Invoice and a window will open.
5) Follow the instructions.
My biggest pay issue with Maritz is simple....their fees are L-O-W. I shop the same exact shops for one of their clients and the fees are at least $5 more per location for a simple walk in. I have told them when they call me that I want to get paid X as company X pays me that just for the walkin. Hence my phone calls with the schedulers end quickly once I tell them that. They say "I cant raise the fees or bonus till the end of the month". I would be more then willing to do more shops for them IF Their fees are higher and IF they paid via paypal.

I have done so many shops I even got a 1099 from them LOL! Let me help you it is hard at ten or eleven bucks a shop to make four thousand dollars. Oh come on now, I forgot I do some for twelve dollars. Yes the checks are not my favorite thing either I would like direct deposit or Paypal as well.
You do realize if your shopping the same store for another MSC it is most likely for a different client? With the exception of a certain persnickety pizza chain, clients don't overlap unless they are shopping around for a new MSC. Regardless, I don't think I'd be giving a lower paying MSC any kind of head's up about another MSC's clients and pay.

I believe stevencosenza is referring to the bank client which Maritz and Beyond Hello share. Same client, same guidelines, same everything--'cept the pay.
I have had a similar situation with Maritz. Having to submit items 2 or 3 times is very aggravating. And at times their instructions are very confusing.
I too find Maritz very difficult to deal with and will only accept their cellphone shops (easy!) when they are bonused. There are many many other companies out there who are much easier to work with and who do not annoy you with phone calls from overseas schedulers.
To the best of my knowledge Maritz doesn't respond to their emails. I have sent numerous ones and never receive answers. I also can't stand their website and can anyone tell me how to find out what shops you have completed with them. I lost information that I thought was backed up when my computer crashed. Thanks!
@laspgh: Much like submitting an invoice, to find the shops you have completed in the last 14 days, login and go to the My Current Shops page. Then, in smaller print, to the right of the heading My Current Shops, is the link, View Completed Shops. Just click on that and you should see every shop that you have completed in the last 14 days.

If you need to go further back, you really should have your own hard copied records. I have a sheet for each completed shop with the date of the shop and the date of the invoice. i also have on my computer, the invoice record of submitted information.

For added comfort, you should have a file of this on an external drive, such as an external hard drive, memory stick or cloud.

As for IC violations of commenters, it really doesn't matter to me. I'll let the admin call them out.

Yes they have a blue lettered line at the top of your current shop page it says view completed shops. Nevertheless it is only good for 14 days and once it is gone it is gone. I am having a dickens of a time getting even remotely close to getting my tax stuff together. I have never seen a worse run record keeper than they are. You can not get any information for your shops after the 14 days. So be warned take a course in book keeping if you plan on working much for Maritz.
Geez, probably 30- 40 percent of the MS companies do not provide a way to view your completed shops. I am always pleased with the ones that do, and when they keep a long record - it is handy but just an extra nicety that is generally not available.

It is surprising you don't have some other method for record keeping other than a computer (backing up stuff on the same computer is pointless) and this is coming from someone who is horrid at record keeping, I only do the bare minimum.

As a mystery shopper, YOU are the business owner. YOU are responsible for keeping accurate records and doing your own bookkeeping. Never rely on a MSC to do the work for you.

Why create more work for the VOLUNTEER moderators?
@Sybil2: You seem upset about my comment. In fact almost shrill. How does it impact you? What happens when there is the violation and is unreported? is there some kind of punishment?

Some are missed, most must be reported because they are edited at some point. I agree that us asking a new member to edit their own posts may save the mods some work. Considering moderating appears to be a volunteer job, and a thankless one at that, if we can help out it should be a good thing.

@Tatjana, I was just suggesting that you be more respectful of the mods in this forum by not creating unnecessary work for them and then having a flip attitude about it.
That being said, Sybil2, May I simply reply:

"I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees".

Cheers (with no dis-respect intended to those who feel the need for respect).
I love Maritz and do most of my work for them. I find it easier to talk to a human on the phone than most other companies. For receipts, you need to attach them to the report AND the invoice. I try to print out a copy of the page showing the invoice was submitted electronically for my records or at least writing down the invoice ID number. I print out the cover sheet with code and staple to my report and keep them all in a big file box. Super easy. For tax purposes I have a spreadsheet for each month that I keep shop info such as who I shopped for, visit number, shop fee, bonuses and reimbursement, etc and just fill in the info for that shop while reporting and then print it at the end of the month to include in my file box. This takes hardly any time to do and keeps everything organized. When I get a check I just go back to my spreadsheet, compare visit numbers and make sure my check says what my spreadsheet says and then file pay stubs in the same box. For end of year taxes I just took the monthly sheets and used them to make a yearly sheet with total pay for year, total reimbursements, etc.
Vicky, Maritz is also my favorite MSC and I too prefer to talk rather than email. However I find it to be a PITA to reconcile the checks to my spreadsheet. It would be a lot easier if they supplied the name and address along with the visit ID on their check stubs.

Did you get a 1099 and how did it compare to your records?

Thanks Mary,

I have my spread sheet arranged by city and customer. I sort it by visit ID when I receive the checks and enter the payments. Then I print it out and re-enter the new info to the master spread sheet. I could eliminate the middle steps if the check stubs showed the customer along with the visit ID. That is what makes it a bit of a PITA. But it is what it is.

I did receive a substancial 1099 from this MSC so I can't complain too much. I'll live with the extra data entry.
