Lowering shop fee-Beyond Hello

I just received an email from Beyond Hello. The shop fee has been $10 for a number of years. This is close to my home so for $10 I would shop it. They also added in a photo to be taken. So now the shop fee is $8.00. The expense is $15 for a purchase. The item that you have to purchase is between $7 and $9. You can not purchase the $15 item.

They've decided they can get it done for less. It's the free market system.

Mary Davis Nowell. Based close to Fort Worth. Shopping Interstate 20 east and west, Interstate 35 north and south.
I've noticed a few other MSC's trying to pull the same stunt. And it appears they are having more trouble finding shoppers BUT they eventually do. So as long as they can get someone to do the shop they will continue to nickel and dime us to death.
not completely true Mary. They tried to get away with doing their menu photo shops for less than
one of the pre merger companies did them for and it's failed on their part and they have
added bonuses to those. I'm amazed the majority of shoppers held off on doing them for the lower
price. It's about time that happened.

I had never done them for the other company, but after reading the guidelines, I was thinking, "No way Jose!" That's all kinds of crazy. Put that in the same boat as the mannequin hands.
They just released some this evening that are $5 plus $1 reimbursement-----shaking my head and wondering!!!
Be careful on this. When your reports are accepted, you will see that your $1 reimbursement has gone away and expenses will be listed as $0. I emailed them on Feb 22 and just got a reply this morning. Here is what I said: "The menu board photo jobs were advertised with a $1 reimbursement, but my shop board is showing a $0 reimbursement for all of my assignments. Will this be corrected?" Here is the response: "The $1 reimbursement is included. I am not sure why the shopper view is different, but I can verify the payment is on the shop."

I replied back with a reminder about contract law and an attached image of a submitted report showing Shop Fee: $5, Approved Expenses: $1, and Reimbursement: $1.
At Ace, they have taken away the shop fee for a few restaurant shops. It was a small shop fee, but it made me feel better that at least they appreciate the time I spend doing the reports. Maybe it's still too close to January where MSCs pick up brand new mystery shoppers who will work for much less?
These fee changes are irritating and that's the reason I don't accept them. They advertised a certain amount and then when you apply for it, the amount is 50 cents or $1 less. The fee is low enough but as soon as they catch you applying for it, the fee is suddenly lowered. Forget it! This makes me wonder if they really think shoppers are dumb and dumber.

I saw this ad for coffee shop and thought since it was just a phone shop, I'd accept it at $9. Lo and behold, when I tried to apply, the shop fee was suddenly $8.50. Ok, it's just 50cents lower, but make up your minds. Then I saw another one for the same shop, also in Toronto and it was $7.50 and it became $7.00. Holy Moses! It makes me wonder what professionalism is that?

The menu photo shops are being paid less because there is no data collection or entry this round. Take 4 or 5 or so photos, upload them to the report form, and that's it.

I am having the same issue with not being reimbursed for the $1 fee. I took a screen shot of the help link on the shop log and it clearly says that the expenses line is for reimbursible expenses.

It's not BS. I've done several.

I'm talking about the excuse for paying less. I know they are technically less work
but it doesnt mean im going to do it for 7 bucks. However they are bonusing them
more then double if you ask...so that is okay.

So tired of MS companies deciding that we are worth less and less when everything else is going up up up.
Take this downer as an opportunity to do better.

Instead of taking the shop at the lower fee, have a look around at your opportunities with a fresh set of eyes. Look at different shops for different MSPs and see if they work better for you. Maybe sign up for a few more MSPs. There are still plenty of other opportunities out there.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I actually liked the Mannequin Hand assignment (I wanted to say job but ... ) - I used those discarded hands in my other business.

>>>Put that in the same boat as the mannequin hands.<<<<
Boy, I'm really wondering about the "mannequin hands" now. What kind of shop was THAT?

Kona Kathie
I did the first round of mannequin hands - It was an evaluation of the condition the hands on a certain set of mannequins at a retail store which I generally frequent anyway. I thought it sounded interesting and it was my opportunity to move from "registered" with the MSC to being a "shopper". They offer their assignments to current shoppers first, so it took a while to actually get my foot in the door with them. (I hesitate to use body parts in this conversation, haha)

The assignment involved photographing the hands from a couple angles and completing a very brief report.

In the 2nd round of mannequin hands assignments, the shopper went back out to the stores and replaced the damaged hands with new ones. As I understand it, they got to keep the old hands if they wanted - the 'damage' consisted of peeling paint for the most part. I didn't see those assignments when they came up, but I didn't mind the one I did. It was definitely different and well worth it to get me on the official roster with the MSC.

That's Mys Butterfly, if you please.
I think 7 bucks for a shop that requires 4 photos and geoverify with no words/narrative to do is good. I wouldnt drive out of my for five dollars but in a city one could do probably 4 of these in a hour without printing paperwork and take picture, upload, submit, job done. Ten minutes max and no report to fill out..... Priceless!!!!!!!
