epms question (first time shop with them)

I am doing my first shop with EPMS. I know I have to preserve my identity while shopping for them as their properties track all potential resident information. Here is my question my name is pretty unique and cant really be shortened, I am not married and really can only use my middle name. So since I'm limited in the name change area can I assume I can only shop for them twice and thats it or does this name variation stuff even matter??? Please help i have emailed the scheduler and have gotten no response back.

I have not shopped for them in a long time, but, if I remember correctly, the complex will make a copy of your DL anyway. At least that is what I remember here, before they would show me an apartment. With that being said, you can't exactly hide your indentity.
Oh okay yeah the whole thing just sounded like kind of a pain after I signed up for a shop.
The apartment complex doesn't have a reason to make a copy of the DL because they shouldn't give it back to you until after the tour. I try to keep a really good eye on what they are doing with mine. Just because you haven't been married doesn't mean you can't use a different last name. Neither my first or middle name has any nicknames. I alter using each and just pick a last name out of the air. I be sure to let them know my divorce is due to be finalized shortly and until then my DL has my married name, but I want to be addressed by my maiden name.

Like Lisa, I am just finalizing a divorce and will reume my family name before changing over all of my ID stuff. Afterall, since I will be changing addresses anyway, I don't want to have to change all of this stuff twice! That has never been questioned, except for the LA to say something like, "Well, as long as the lease will be in your new name, that works!"

Guys, of course, have a tougher time.

Based in MD, near DC

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Thanks guys i feel much better now. I'll just say im getting a divorce, i am now dreading the report yikes but they cant be any worse than some others ive done hopefully!
Oh yes they cansmiling smiley The report is redundant or it wouldn't be such a PITA. My record now is 45 minutes with an average of an hour, but for the first one or two it was probably closer to two hours. For all their redundancy I just completed two this week that were by far the worst I've seen. Dates and times for phone calls and onsite visits had to be entered four times in various parts of the report.

I've apartment shopped for 3 other companies other than EPMS, and, they are by far the lengthiest I've ever endured. They pay well though, so, I just suck it up. The schedulers and follow up team are all very nice & are there to help you every step of the way.
As most apartment companies check credit, how does that work? Seems like they would want your legal name at that moment to check on you. Would insisting on being addressed by a soon to be different last name be a clue that you are a mystery shopper?

I try to do apartment shops with the same company around the same time. I use a scenario that I am moving into an area and am looking at apartments. If I'm asked at another complex about it, I simply explain that I'm still looking at areas. Sometimes I may mention that the other company referred me to this one. (I've done this twice).

Unless you are signing a lease, why would they check your credit? I have done apartment chops for other MSCs, and one thing I have learned is that every apartment complex requires a photo ID before they will show you an apartment (and they keep the photo ID until the tour is over). So, unless you have a collection of fake photo IDs, I can't wee how you can avoid providing your real name if you are required to tour the apartment.

God, their reports are a pain, and they always seem to want a targeted shop, which I won't do anymore.

Back to the original question.
You can use a nickname and say it is what you go by.
EPMS DOES track the names you use also, and they will NOT accept shops where the instructions say you must use a new name!
if they see you used the same name twice, *( not all clients require a new alias)
Use names like freeze, schecky, phase, function,. goober, mooch
Says it was childhood nickname that stuck.
It is a PITA but the only way to get around the shop instruction
