Ross sizing audits

I keep saying no to the Ross sizing audits because of the description. The number of items they want you to check seems enormous. Is it easier then I am thinking?

I think it depends on the store and the time of day you do them. I grab them every chance I get. I'd say about 95 percent of the time, I can get them done in 45 to 60 minutes. It's the shoes that always add time for me. The report is a breeze. They don't want any narrative unless you have more than 7 mismatches. I did one about two weeks before Christmas and I would never do it around that time frame again. That one was a nightmare! I actually had the editor contact me and tell me I was giving her too much detail on one report! smiling smiley

Is this the shop that pays about $16.00? At least that's what they are going for in my area if it's the same shop.

Motivation increases when we assume large responsibilities with a short deadline.
I have done a few rounds of them (I think about 4 or 5 now), each at a different store. They take me about an hour. I have only once seen a manager's name posted (in the bathroom). And this current round I found to be a nightmare in 2 different stores because half of the tags were marked with a different department than what the audit called for. I was not happy with that one at all, and will steer clear of audits with toddler items from now on!

Yes
They're not too bad, especially if you get a store where you get lucky enough to only have a few mis-sized/misplaced items and you don't have any narratives to deal with.

I'm just finally getting over a traffic accident, so my shoulder and backside definitely won't like shuffling through racks for the time being. All the theater installs I have had this month won't help that, either.
I used to do these all the time and liked them, now they require a photo and I'm just anal about that....I don't like to be tracked by my cell phone OR pictures....
Lots of shops/reports require a POV photo of some sort. It is not big deal. You are shooting yourself in the foot but turning down these types of shops. They are usually easy peasy.
I just did two last week and there was no photo requirement. Did the guidelines change recently?
No photo requirement here, and I did one late last week. I agree that they are usually easy, but this round was a pain. I will not do any more involving toddler and kids' clothing. The clothes were all jumbled between the two departments and there were sizing errors galore in both sections.

The harder I work, the luckier I get.
They required a photo of yourself to be submitted before you could assign the shop. Not sure if that still applies.
Love this shop. Once you are in the groove it is so easy. My only problem was when I mistakenly mixed up the specific Round/# I was supposed to do as it was just when it changed (each quarter has a new set of departments) and one job was in the old round and another in the new round.

Other than that issue these are great shops and well worth the time.
I applied for this to shop to be my first shop for a Mystery shopping company. It was never scheduled to me though. I hate when I can't self-assign and have it immediately assigned to me! Those are the only shops that company has in my area, and I don't think there are other shoppers in my area. I don't know why they never assigned it to me.
Yes, they require for you to submit your own picture. I didn't think you could tell what you were auditing until you had already agreed to take it. Do you tell them you changed your mind or is there a way to see which departments are on there before you sign up?
Just did one where one of the departments was ladies panties. A bit awkward but no one challenged me.
Shoes are the only real hang ups and sometimes toddler clothing is difficult, but
overall I like Ross stores anyway... so try it!
What about the quiz... If 3 Ladies medium skirts were mixed in with Ladies medium blouses, would you count these units as mis-sized?
Not mis-sized, but misplaced?
You count them as mis-sized. You can comment on them in the remarks which are required for 7 or more mis-sized items.
I had been avoiding these too because it seemed like too much work. One provider sent me an email bc they were in a bind and offered me a bonus to complete it. I had to count 625 items. It took about an hour, but now that I know what I'm know what to do, the next time will be very easy.

However, I HATED counting the bras because they get usually all tangled up. The children's clothes were the easiest to count because they are easier to see the sizes.

I would do it again.
My Ross is a small one and generally really well organized, so those shops are a piece of cake!
I always get the manager's name by asking an employee who the manager is today, because I have a friend that would like to apply here. I like the audit shop, and I even like the purchase/return shop. Night Owl at 3:05 am.
The Ross audit one of my favorite shops to do. We went on vacation this past weekend and I did 3 while we were there. My husband sat in the car for two of them and they took less than 40 minutes each. My husband was upset I had picked them up at first but when they went so quickly he was really glad.
I have never done a sizing audit before but it seems like easy money. My trip up is that I need to complete the quiz beforehand and having never worked in a clothing store I am unsure of how to answer the majority of the questions.

For example: Which of the following areas would you NEVER size?
a. Designer Merchandise
b. Four Way racks
c. Promotional Tables
d. Sample Feature/End Caps
e. All of the above

I have no clue here. And i don't know why you wouldn't size any/all of them.

Another question I have no clue how to answer: How many total items are you required to audit?
Ask for a copy of the report. All the information you need is available in the guidelines and the report.

You're not supposed to answer according to personal experience, but according to guidelines, I'm sure. Don't you get a document to read before taking the quiz?
RockinRita03,

Have you found what you are looking for yet? If not, just look at the paperwork under the “Files you need” section of the visit details. Between all the documents you find there you will have all the answers to the quiz.
