MFI FF Waikiki

Be aware, that although you have NO choice in getting pineapple with your extra value breakfast meal, MFI just tried to disallow one I did for the reason that I "ordered an extra item" and that "is not allowed." It is not something you can just say no to with the meal. But the fact that it prints on the receipt as an item was enough to make some editor there disallow it. I am fighting this, as I have done this shop many times and it is known that this is part of the meal there, and they have always allowed it. If they disallow this, they have lost me as a shopper, as there is no way to win on this particular shop, and they are already too cheap as it is. The shop was all good other than this, no outside of range stats. No other comments from them. I asked to speak to a supervisor in response to their discrediting this shop, and they are "checking into the information I gave them." HMMM. All of a sudden, this is disallowed? After many shops that were inclusive of this? Not without a HUGE fight for my rights from me.

If you fight it giving them the information that you did not ask for the pineapple, they just automatically give it, they might accept it.

I did one a few months ago for one of those FF's and they were having like a grand re-opening party. They were automatically giving away free pies with that. You really could not turn down the pie, they just stuck it on there automatically. I explained that to them and they accepted the shop. Good luck.
I had a problem last month with one of MFI's new shops - a Chinese fastfood. You were told in the instructions you absolutely could not order anything extra. One of the no-nos specifically listed was "sauce on the side." You were to order a 2-entree meal with extra item (either drink, appetizer or soup). I order the 2-entree and an appetizer - yep, you guessed it! With appetizers they give you, and put it on the receipt, sauce on the side. I argued and the editor reluctantly gave in. The instructions still read exactly the same, but I hope now that numerous shops have been done for this client they know the sauce on the side story. I got around it because I started ordering soup instead of appetizer.......

Any breakfast value meal. :-)

Well, they did cave. It took 3 emails from me and "review by multiple departments." What I abhor about this, is instead of just having some nameless entity send an invalidation notice, someone *with a name and reponse email* could have sent something saying, "We noticed that pineapple was on your receipt. As you are aware, the specifications for this assignment do not allow for the ordering of extra items. Can you elaborate on this for us so we can review it?" So much more humane and not blaming the shopper before knowing the facts. But then, they always go for blaming the shopper first, even when the shopper was not wrong.

I'm shocked that you would settle for being questioned about it at all, dee.

How about the MSC having some clue as to how their client functions and send a note to the editing staff that locations in HI serve pineapple on the side, so not to question it?
Yes, I thought of that. But we all know that is so unlike MFI! So I lower my expectations of professional behavior, LOL. :-) But, for all I know, they might have sent it, but the editor maybe didn't read it...since I have never been questioned on this previously.

A similar thing happened with a coffee shop at another MSC. The receipts at this one location are done on an older type cash register and are not itemized. The MSC and client require itemized receipts to show you ordered exactly what you were told to. (Yes, I know, another MSC with "shopper trust issues"...) So this place doesn't do that and I have never been questioned. All of a sudden I get a rejected shop for that reason. I was REALLY mad. I sent off a polite but stern email to the scheduler, saying, "Exactly how does MSC NAME propose the shopper handle this? Say, I'm sorry. I cannot accept this receipt. You are required to give me on that has the items ordered listed on it. I know that as I am mystery shopping you right now, and your employer and the firm they hired require this." At least in that instance, I got an immediate reply with an apology, the shop valdiated, a call from the Ops VP of the MSC with an apology, and both said that the notes for that location state the location cannot give itemized receipts and to accept the non-itemized ones, but that the editor had not read it, and that the issue would be addressed with the editor. It did not happen again for me at that location. But they handled it so much better than MFI.

And Mert, the FF joint does charge for the pineapple, they just increase the cost of the Value Meal to include that in the price, but you have no way of getting the meal without the pineapple. It's pretty pricey at $7.10 for an egg/canadian bacon sandwich with hash browns and coffee...plus fresh pineapple. :-)
