Dont shop for maritz

I did a shop and debriefed spend over 20 minutes. Then they kept asking me to clarify repeatedly 3 times the same questions. I did and then I called them and they said they wouldn't pay me because I didn't do the shop as specified when in fact I did. I spent over 15 on the product and spent over one hour on this and those bastards are not paying me. I saw their board and they didn't relist the shop which indicates that they already submitted the shop to the client and chose not to pay me. I have been mystery shopping for over 5 years and had been inactive on maritz for about 3 years and I decided to do this one shop. F YOU MARITZ

There could be a few legitimate reasons for you not seeing the shop posted again. Some companies with self assign shops have it set up so a shopper would not see a shop they've had invalidated so it could not be assigned to them again. If they have a system in place for people to request to be a backup the shop may have been immediately assigned to the backup shopper. If the shop was near or at deadline a scheduler may have opted to call one of their "go to" shoppers rather than reposting so they know the shop will be completed on time and correctly.

I have never had problems getting paid as long as I did the shop right. I have missed a picture that was needed for a gas shop and refused to drive the 60 miles to get the picture. They have been the fairest of all the companies I have worked for. I am sorry that you did not get paid but I bet it was you not them.
This company is full of crap! Steer away from them. They will not even allow you to speak to a supervisor when something goes wrong and then they make stuff up about you when you tell them they are at fault. Crappy company to work for and are still in the dark ages with their system.
Some of these posts are beyond negative! To say they are making things up about you? I have done shops for Maritz for years and have encountered none of these issues. They are a good company, pay on time and their reports are not ridiculous.
New shoppers should be aware this does not sound like Maritz. For a quick education, click on Logitech's name and read all previous posts. Every one of them is pretty much the same thing about one of the companies. Same attitude, same result.

hmmm...i've done literally hundreds of assignments for Maritz and while there have been an issue or two (mostly due to negligence on my part) I've always found them to be responsive and easy-to-communicate with. Their system may be a tad antiquated but maybe it works for them.

yep, well said. I've done many, many assignments for them and never have run into any problems (except the ones of my own doing...not theirs). Trashing them in the manner of these vitriolic posts makes me wonder about the posters.
I have been doing shops for Maritz for many years now and have not experienced any problems with them. My only complaint is that they don't have enough shops in my area.

With your track record, why would you believe anybody would give any consideration to anything you say? Your few posts here on the forum have all been negative posts about companies. In the 5 years you have shopped, have you had any good experiences? How many shops have you done? Have you been paid by any companies for the shops you've done? Do you just come here to try to burn companies when you don't do a shop as specified and don't get paid?
I agree with those who commented on all five of the OP's posts being extremely negative but some of them are hilarious. He is under the impression that he can "fire" an MSC. One MSC was proactive and deactivated him. I'm totally surprised that he has not bashed MF! Looks like his track record speaks for himself.
Maritz is one of the most consistent companies in paying their shoppers. I have spoke with many different product supervisors when I have had the need. When I was a new shopper I did not get paid for a few shops as they were not completed correctly and also I got paid for some that I probably should not have as they were able to get waivers. Maritz has always been fair to me and their schedulers are polite and grateful to shoppers for taking on shops. The volume of calls from multiple teams is a bit much some days but again their calls generate additional income for the shopper.
OP you are not cut out for mystery shopping. With the way you are 'firing' MSC's there won't be any left for you to do soon.

My personal experience with them has always been stellar. I've been with them for slightly over 20 years now and never had an issue with them in any of the thousands of shops I've done with them.

Yup, I vote for Maritz too, and think the OP has a few "issues" they should probably deal with, before considering MS as an income source. Maritz has always been more than fair to me in the four years I have been with them......and I drove 120 miles once, to get a missed photo, because I do value my relationship with them!
Let me first say that I have done hundreds of shops for Maritz and find them fair, reasonable and easy to work with. I have had some issues with them where I questioned a hold put on a shop but was able to amicably work them out by. There were a couple of times where I had to go back for a photo that I overlooked but that was my fault and my responsibly.

That being said, I hope no one panders to the OP by trying to explain what he should or shouldn't do. In my opinion he doesn't want to know rather, he is an irritant with a lousy attitude trying to get a reaction. I don't understand the mentality of posters, mainly new ones, who do nothing but bash MSC's.
I love Maritz. I am still a newbie ....been mystery shopping for about 1.5 years but have completed hundreds of shops for Maritz and haven't had any issues. Instructions and reports are simple, payment always on time, and all the schedulers have been friendly and down to earth.
I shop for Maritzcx more than any other company found them to be the most consistent, easy to work with and reliable of the companies I contract with. Once i got the learning curve down and gained more experience as a shopper I found they rewarded my efforts with respect, fairness and the utmost courtesy. Martzcx ( the new name) is improving there platform as well the changes are slow but I can handle slow if it is better. A year ago I had a fall out of a tree and needed immediate surgery at the time I had fourteen shops scheduled they were very understanding and removed them I even received calls during my recovery from the schedulers inquiring of my progress and wishing me well. I enjoy speaking with them when they cal if I can do the requested shop I do and if not they are understanding often offering a bonus but never pressure.
Over the years I have dome a lot of Gas station shops, One time while doing a gas station shop thirty miles away what I didn't notice in the manual I received in the mail from the Petro company was I needed photos of both the bathroom doors. We were able to resolve the hold easily with one conversation and they still paid me. This was an issue where it was my fault and they could have refused.
As long as Maritxcx is in Business and I am shopping I will contract for them actually there have been time they are the only reason I keep doing it.
I was surprised to receive a get well card from the scheduler during my recovery I am first name bases with many of them and it is a pleasure doing business with this MSC ... For the newbie I was they were the best training ground.. KUDOS TO MARITZ CX
I'm sorry you had that experience. I've shopped for Maritz for two years. I have only had one shop not paid and I realized it was due to something I missed. I find them to be a good company to shop for.
I agree, they are awful in so many ways. I am waiting for payment on shops completed in April. After contacting them via phone and e-mail 8 times regarding payment, I am told they are behind in processing e-mails. The problem is that even though I submitted receipts within the report, I also had to submit them with the invoice. The problem is you can only submit 1 receipt per project, and they expect you to get additional receipts (in some cases, #4) in yet another picture of them all together for the billing submission. If that doesn't work, then an e-mail is required ... and thus I wait for over $170 in billings. Antiquated system sucks; I'm through with them.
When they want two receipts with the invoice, but only have space for one, I simply scan both receipts at the same time. Very easy. Works perfectly. I have never been questioned when I do that. For the green and white gas stations, they need each receipt separately, and then all of them together. No fuss, no muss.

Meloshopper, even though you had issues with learning how to navigate their receipt system this is a good company overall. I can't address the rest of the USA, but in the DFW area they have a firm grip on the convenience store audits. Yes, a couple of other companies have some brands but Maritz is the big kahuna here. As the years go by I see them pick up more and more brands, so it looks like to me they are consolidating that area of shopping/auditing. Since convenience stores are everywhere and are typically shopped by the biggest MSCs, I'm very careful to keep those lines of communication open and to be sure I'm doing everything I can to maintain an active status.

Absolutely. There are so many gas stations and convenience stores that I am thinking I will never be out of work, hopefully.

For the new shoppers who might be reading, Maritz is my favorite company. If you care about doing good work, and are willing to work the learning curve of the photo sizes, and invoicing, you will be rewarded.
When I do the gas stations in question Before I even leave the station I take the receipts write the visit Id on each one and take a photo of each and one of both - side by side with my I phone and them email them from my phone to my G mail account in the event one or both of them would get lost. that has saved my butt more than once when I am doing multiple shops things can get crazy. Maritxcx is clear about the need to invoice them. I find that as I complete each report & immediately do the invoice I don't forget. When i first started shopping with them I did forget a couple but I received a e mail from them saying the invoice was missing. I sent it via email returned to them-- Problem resolved.
I've only had one experience with Maritz and it wasn't a great one. This was maybe a year ago... I applied for two of the blue bank jobs and they sat on the "Pending" board for about two weeks, until well after the due date. I thought, "Well, I'm not going to get those, so I can go ahead and schedule other stuff." Then when the jobs were already a week overdue, they called me on my cell one morning while I was walking out the door for work, and wanted me to do the assignments that same day. I felt sort of obligated to at that point, and I said I would try to take one if I could. I wasn't very optimistic, but it was assigned to me. (Since then, I've learned to not be so much of a people-pleaser.) I ended up being stuck at work all day and had to cancel the shop (which they were gracious about). This was actually the one and only job I've ever canceled, for any company. Since then, I don't think I've even logged into my account one time.

Nothing against them, but this company just isn't a good fit for me. First, I greatly prefer working via email and not telephone, and they only want to do phone. Second, I'm not too interested in the assignments. I rarely do banks, and never do gas stations. I have plenty enough work with other companies. Besides, CoffeeQueen and I have a standing arrangement that works great for both of us: she gets all the Maritz jobs, and I get all the fine dining. :-D

Now, I'm not so dense as to believe that Maritz is a terrible company just because of this one experience. I've said in other threads that I like some companies that are generally disliked, and the reverse is true here. When it comes to MSCs, user results may vary.

This scenario is a perfect example of when to ask for a LARGE bonus. They had been sitting on the board for awhile AND they were past the original due. That is $$$ time!
I do more shopping with this company than all of the others that I shop for combined. I find them fair, helpful and quick paying. I have nothing negative at all to say about them. I wish all MS companies were like this one. Whoever it is writing these bad reviews of my favorite company needs to get a life, preferably out of M. Shopping.
I LOVE Maritz. Never had a problem with them, or for that fact getting paid. Super nice people. Editors are also great. Wish they had more in my area is my only complaint.
