I screwed up with this MSC and the reply was shocking!

I had to make two phone calls today for one shop and I could not get the report to work right. And, the report has multiple pages. So, I contacted my scheduler and said that something was wrong with my report and it would not work. Well, I was so very wrong! The problem was me! I screwed up and did not call the recorded number but the direct number. Dumb!!! So, I replied to the scheduler that I did indeed make the mistakes and I wondered if I could call again on Monday. This way, I would not be recognized by calling right back. Just call me stupid! My scheduler said no problem and recognized they are having issues with the reports not being easy to understand. So, has anyone ever done this before? I am so shocked by how kind and understanding the scheduler was from this company! What a way to brighten my day! :-)

After eight plus years I have made most mistakes which could be made. Despite the bad rap most companies and schedulers get, I can honestly say the vast majority have been kind, understanding and helpful. They have fixed what they could fix, allowed me to reshop what could be reshopped and been empathetic when no amount of fixing would save the shop.

Overall my experience has been much like LisaSTLs. I have even had them do their magic behind the scenes with job numbers when I reported Job 1 on the form for Job 2 and then realized my mistake. Like magic, Job 2 became Job 1 with no retyping and Job 2 had a whole fresh form. The trick seems to be to own your mistake, apologize and then see what can be done to salvage.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the shop you did is one of my favorite comparison phone shops. The batch I just picked up seem to be under a different scheduler now, but a month or two ago I screwed up and forgot about one that I was supposed to do. I emailed the scheduler as soon as I realized what I'd done and asked if I could complete it the next day, and she had no problem rescheduling it for me. smiling smiley

LisaSTL, that is exactly what I have decided is the rule of thumb now. I humbled myself to take the blame and was honest, as usual. It felt good to not be "scolded". The other the day I was scolded badly for my grammar and today I was relieved. What a difference a MSC and a scheduler/editor makes! Phew :-)

FrugalMommy, I think you are right! This is the first time I used this shop to do these calls. This scheduler was the tops, in my opinion. I would do this style of shops again!

I have also made pretty much every mistake that can be made. I've reshopped when possible and accepted the loss when necessary and been treated pretty fairly by the MSCs.

I would mostly agree. There have been a few that I did not feel treated me fairly and happily I am not obligated to work with them further. I must admit to a little chortle when one of them went out of business, especially since it would appear it was due to clients backing away rather than a bankruptcy to leave shoppers holding the bag.
Hi!
I am new to this forum and am signing up to different shops. I sometimes don't get the acronyms mean. What is MSC?
MSC or MSP both are Mystery Shopping Company or Mystery Shopping Provider. Basically it is referring to the companies with whom we contract for shops we perform.
I just recently had the good fortune to redo a shop because of the kindness of the scheduler. Due to fatigue and grief, I wasn't thinking clearly and did not do the shop on a particular day which happened to be the funeral of a very closed friend. I was surprised when I received an email that I would be getting 1/10 because of that error. I had never had that poor rating before. I suddenly woke up and asked the scheduler to let me redo it, without pay. She asked me which stickied day I could do it and told me if I did it right, I would be paid. She left the report as incomplete and asked me to erase my previous answers and complete the shop. I was thanked for a very good report. I got a 9 due to some typo or grammar but it showed, no fee. Did not matter, but I still verified if indeed it was not going to be paid. No answer yet. Would take a no fee vs having a bad record.
Risinghorizon, I am glad you were able to redo the shop. I am so sorry for your loss by the way. But, when the scheduler said you could do it over again and get paid if right, why is a 9/10 not good enough? My goodness. I feel they are taking advantage of you even though you said you would do it free. She did say she would pay you. Just thinking out loud about the schedulers comment. I know the fee is ok to not receive according to you. I understand your thinking...

I've been doing this a long time now, 22 years, and learned that the thing to do is own up to mistakes and move forward. I found that most of the time the MS company will work with you on things.

Not to worry. After a while she said she had corrected the error and I was going to be paid. Thanks for the kind words.
