Beware of Northfork Research Gift Card Gimmick

I referred my 19 year old cousin to Northfork for their drug store mystery shop. I was supposed to be rewarded a gift card. When I inquired about it, they claim she signed up in 2013 so I would not receive the card. I know this to not be true because she didn't know a thing about mystery shopping before coming to my house for the summer in 2015.

North fork was formerly ICCDS. Perhaps she registered with them and didn't make the connection?

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

It could also be that she was playing around on the internet and registered with ICCDS and did not realize what she was registering for. I started mystery shopping after I watched a couple of family members do mystery shops for 3 years. Watching their experience with mystery shopping was new to me and I knew nothing about mystery shopping. When I started registering with companies, I was very surprised to see that I had somehow managed to register with two mystery shopping companies a year before both my family members started to mystery shop. Reviewing the information I had entered, I DID actually register with both companies, although I had no memory of doing so and I did not know what mystery shopping was.

Just because she didn't know a thing about mystery shopping before coming to your house does not mean she did not register two years ago. Although I didn't know a thing about mystery shopping, I somehow managed to register with two companies.

Registering with a MSC is easy to do, and, since no real instructions are provided, it's easy to not have a clue and to forget you've registered. Just be happy that you've gotten her started and she can make some money.
North Ford wouldn't deliberately rip her off. They are an outstanding company and I just can't see this happening. I think she must have registered with them and forgot.
I heard back from the scheduler that there's a glitch in their system. She apologized and promised it would be mailed the next day....which was a week ago. When I contacted her on Monday, she said I'd have it by Tuesday. The scheduler then claimed 'they' were backed up with getting the cards out to the recipients. Still.....NOTHING....and it's Friday. Feels like I'm being manipulated.

Just be happy she is making money? I am happy for her. Just as we're expected to complete a shop as promised, I expect the MSC to hold up their end of the bargain as well.
I have a Walmart virtual gift card pass from North Fork that I haven't been able to redeem. Has anyone else had a problem with these? I contacted my scheduler and he advised me to contact the gift card people. I emailed them tonight and we'll see what happens.

I got mine. All's well that ends well but it took some chasin'. I believe the problem was that the code they gave me to get the card didn't work. Apparently they fixed that because when I got the instructions to try again they gave me the same code.

NorthFork has always been a lovely company, in my opinion.

One time I missed out on a set of their short-notice shops that they occasionally send out. A fantastic scheduler who I love working with, Claudia Santos, e-mailed me the next day and squeezed me in for a few shops the following week. She's great to work with and she's been very flexible when I've had to re-schedule shops in the past.

Also, they almost always receive and review your shops within 24 hours and provide pleasant comments and high ratings.
As the operations manager for North Fork Research, I can assure that our referral program is not a scam. We offer referral bonuses for alcohol and tobacco shops as well as certain difficult locations. However, you are only eligible for the referral bonus if the shopper is not in our system already and your referral has to successfully complete the shop in order for you to receive the gift card.
Also to further clarify North Fork Research does all of the scheduling for ICCDS. Therefore if a shopper signs up with ICCDS, they are signed up with North Fork Research.

I hope that you have found this information helpful.
