Oh, Intelli-shop! "Double meat" and "50% more meat" are NOT the same thing!

No, I think I do not understand what they mean. If they terminate me, fine. If they don't pay me, fine (but I think they will, since my report was accepted, and I have never had them not pay me when the report was accepted).

And if being precise is "too anal", I shouldn't be mystery shopping at all! And I'm not ARGUING with anyone. I am merely simply stating a fact -- that double meat and "50% more meat" are not synonymous.

I'm confused? Why is this posted with IntelliShop named in it at all? They are in my Opinion The Number one! I wish I could work for them exclusively! The nicest people!
enjoy those slave wages woodyca. Intellishop can't afford to terminate anyone. Just give them what they want even if it means lying and take your 7,8,9, or 10. They all mean the same and you get paid. I almost bet they just edited the OP's report after he resubmitted it. They likely changed the one answer from no to yes and deleted the extra comment and sent it on.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.

Because it was an Intelli-shop assignment. And so that other shoppers who accept this shop don't get twisted up by the change in questions and the client's employees don't get "dinged" for not offering "50% more meat" if they are successfully upselling to "double the meat".

And I agree, they are pretty nice people to work for.

And welcome to the forum!
My theory with Intellishop: Even if you give me an "8" instead of a 10...I will take that...just pay me! smiling smiley
First, I think you are 100% right in your feelings. The bottom line is 50% more meat is NOT the same as double meat. If the editor who called you out on that does not understand the difference, then he/she has not mastered basic math --- that is NOT your fault. If I were in your shoes, I would have elevated it to the supervisor of editing, so he/she is aware and can do two things: teach the editor some math and assure you were not down-graded because of the editor's error. Regarding the comment about being "anal," in my opinion, you are far from anal; you are accurate and that is what mystery shopping is all about!
If they really mean that double is 50% ...they should clarify that in the instructions....or include a link to free psychic hotline so a psychic can tell you in the directions are appropriate or not.
I'm not sure what the "Slave Wages" are? I don't work for slave wages! I have a minimum.
As far as the ratings go, I've only received tens! Have a great day!
I got the mixed up guidelines. I agree that's crazy! I thought I read it in the headline as intellishop. Then I saw it say it was not a shop for intellishop! Strike that from the record! LOL Thanks for the Welcome.

Why are you confused? Intellishop is named in this thread because the OP was discussing a problem with performing a shop for them. There was no bashing, and the OP didn't say they were a bad company,or that they were not nice people, just questioned the issue that came up. And discussing issues is very beneficial to forum members. I've learned a lot from the mistakes and problems others have made and posted about.

Intellishop are nice people, but I certainly wouldn't call them Number One by a long shot. But I personally like them. You like them. Others don't. Others have a right to say they don't like them. And, know what? Even though I LIKE them, I can see and laugh about some of the things that make others NOT like them.
Word. I thought it was the IPSOS discussion. Don't trip though I just joined the forum for the reason of learning. Thanks

Math is hard!

Common Core at its best! LOL

This problem has nothing to do with Common Core. People have been unable to figure out for themselves percentages, proportions, etc., since calculators came into widespread use.... (Not that I advocate eliminating calculators, but people need to know how to perform these calculations so that they actually understand the math and the terminology.)

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
After working closely with project managers in both direct telephone market research projects (I was the training and quality control manager for a major telephone research firm that worked with all of the major firms) and then working with the SAME EXACT companies as a mystery shopper, the telephone research project managers are much more intelligent and care about their jobs because their clients are usually scheduled to listen in on the spot and make corrections to the way the studies are conducted. Much more concientiousness is abound in that part of the field. However, I find mystery shopping project managers do not pay attention to details and seem to be much too overwhelmed to keep anything straight or provide complete details about the jobs. They hide behind their emails and job boards and I haven't found very much consistent information between job "guidelines" or "rules" and the survey form itself. Much is not updated on shop quizzes/guidelines and sometimes I see branding pictures months old, only to find what I had taken pictures of the current branding. It is an ebb and flow - I'm beginning to prefer video shopping.
I just saw my first TV ad for the new "deluxe, 50% more meat" promotion today, December 1. I'm thinking the MSC jumped the gun a little, and asked the promo question before the starting date for the promo! The promo specifically says "order the Deluxe version and get 50% more meat!" for some ridiculously low price, like $.59 or $.29 cents (but I think it was $.59). Now, that's a good deal.

So at least the mystery has been cleared up -- it's a new promo, with a special price, and evidently started today. At least in this geographical area!

I could have sworn it was 75 cents to add 50% more meat deluxe portion, but maybe I am wrong and it was 50 cents. tongue sticking out smiley
I'm outside a Subway as I write this which made me think of this thread. The menu board makes no reference to double meat anymore and the "limited time" promotion is to upgrade to Deluxe for a six inch costing fifty cents and footlong a dollar. It is confusing when shops are ordered and carried out before the campaign they are meant to check is established. It looks to me like the server either offers double meat in the past and half meat more in the present, and the transition had not taken place yet. This is something that the msc should be made aware of. The editors need to account for it.

Whenever I have to write a narrative similar to yours I use redundancy. I state that there was not any of what they looked for, and what it was replaced by. If I read your post correctly you used half of the narrative. You missed half the meat though.
"You missed half the meat though."

LOL! I don't understand that statement.

And you know, we all do it. We are supposed to carefully read the guidelines before we hit the road to do the shop. But we've done this shop dozens of times, know it backward and forward...so we glance at the paperwork. I'm sure the report showed the question when I glanced at it -- but like I said, I've done it dozens of times, so where it asked "did the server offer to make your sandwich deluxe with 50% more meat", I just
READ it as "did server offer double meat". And off I went. So my cheat sheet said "exact greeting - check.
time entered line, check. #of customers ahead of me, check. Double meat? check. Double cheese, check.
Bacon? Check. Small talk, quote, check.

And we're told over and over, "your paperwork may have changed...please read your guidelines carefully" - but this change was NOT in the guidelines. I do read them rather carefully, to check for changes. The change may be in the latest guidelines, I'm not sure, as this shop was performed last month. Evidently it was before
the "celebrate 50 years of Subway with 50% more meat for $.50" promotion began.

It's been an interesting discussion, all around, though, and I appreciate everyone's input.
