Having problems getting paid from Mystery Shopper company

I did a job for Monterey Mystery and I hadn't been paid, and this was not the first time it was a problem. I waited 4 months to get paid for like 5 jobs from them, and the pay owed was for over $200.00. They told me something about I was signed up on the wrong site, and I needed to sign up on another site. Which I kept trying to do and y cookies kept preventing me from signing up, it was really a hassle and they kept saying they would pay me but it kept not happening, anyway finally I fussed and told them I couldn't do any more jobs for them until I got paid, and they had a job for me that they really wanted me to do for them. Well they finally they figured it out and they did pay me. And so I went out and I did the job for them, it was about 130 miles round trip for me so pretty expensive considering my truck only gets 15 miles to the gallon on the freeway and 11 in town. . Well after I did it they kept sending me emails to do this job, I keep telling them I have already done that job and I can't do it again. I am still waiting for my pay, it's been several months now and no pay I have emailed and called and been ignored. So I go back and check the completed job board and find that the job I did is not on there. I do have the proof that I went there, a business card and a brochure, but they want me to find the email advertising the job for me, and me accepting it and I can't find it, not sure what the heck to do.They owe me about $70.00 for this job. Any ideas folks.

I have only been doing this kind of work for a year now, and I am glad that I found this forum. This is my first post and I say that you should not hesitate to go to small claims court (SCC). The work you do for this company is more valuable to them than to you, but it is the principal of the matter at stake. Work = pay. If you make a mistake and not follow their instructions PERFECTLY, well then its on you, but if all is good then you should be paid. Best of luck, and sue this company in SCC. Maybe the reputation of going to SCC maybe what it tales to make them better.
Small Claims Court???? Seriously???

April, what day did you perform the shop on? After you submitted the shop, did you check the status and what was it? Do they send confirmation emails when a shop is submitted and if so, did you receive one for this shop?

Do you see all of your completed shops other than this one?

Is there at least one MSC you do not have an issue with?

Hi Wassim, it would be very difficult to file small claims on an MSC that is most likely not based in the same state as where the shop was completed. Generally when you sue in small claims court, you have to file in the county and state where the defendant lives and be in court on the day of the hearing. The OP would have to file papers and have them notarized, and there is generally a filing fee to the court that varies from state to state--I know in Connecticut it is $90 to file. Also, if the OP lives in Florida and has to travel to California for the hearing, that's additional out-of-pocket expenses to recoup only $70. Even traveling from one side of their state to another for court is going to make it not worth the effort. There are ways to file from out of state but again, is it really going to be worth the time to do that? Plus, how can the OP prove to the court that they really did the assignment and that they should be compensated?

mom.for.hire had a great idea to contact the MSC to try and get resolution. I don't see any other logical avenue.
