Five Diamond Moves to Shopmetrics

I think I am happy about this. I have only done a few assignments for them. I like being able to search for assignments rather than getting an email with offers for my city or sending a request for other locations.

no shops on the board though. :/

However, I wrote a good narrative a few months ago not specifically for this company but for companies that require a really good narrative when you apply. So glad I got it over and done with.

What's up with Shopmetrics????? It seems like a lot of MSCs are moving to it. I feel it's a terrible reporting system but maybe it's easy to use for the MSCs and client side.
It's probably cheaper and is my least favorite platform. The thing is, the issues shoppers have the most problems with could probably be fixed easy enough.

It's by far my favorite. The ONLY thing I hate about it is when there is a required comment and you want to go do something else before you fill it in, it just almost won't let you.

That and the spellcheck are the reason I hate the system. I try to go to a different window to check something like a time and it takes over my computer. Seems like both would be easy fixes.

Yes. Once I got used to it though it's job search engine is the best for the way I work.

Do you mean MSJobBoard? From what I recall it had some advantages like being able to search by job type. The individual job boards are not always so user friendly. One in particular shows about 50 phone shops located all over the U.S. first. After scrolling through all those I might find some in my area.

It would be interesting to see how many shops they offer. I always thought they focus on a small niche and thus have a small clientele...

I agree with you, Lisa. It's my least favorite as well. I am much pickier about taking a shop when I have to enter it on Shopmetrics. If the server's name is Mikael instead of Michael, spellcheck shouldn't ding me every stinkin' time to ask me. Also, it takes forever to reload the pages. Just not user-friendly. They must be getting a huge savings, but at what cost? If it takes me twice as long to enter the report, I'd like to be compensated for that extra work.

5D's old reporting method was the absolute worst. I don't think it's possible for Shopmetrics to actually take longer. They could have switched to reporting by carrier pigeon or smoke signals and it would have been an improvement.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
Doing a fine dining report as we speak for a restaurant that's in a city with an uncommon spelling, the form won't recognize "bussers" even though that's the term that the MSC uses, and many more "incorrect spelling" issues on the report which totals to about 10. So of course I want to save my work as I go along just in case, and each time the stupid built-in Shopmetrics spellchecker tells me that my spelling is incorrect and I have to click "ignore". It would be so nice if it had a "learn" or "add to my library" feature like Sassie does.
Actually I disagree. The old format works perfectly fine for me.

When I have to enter a report in ShopMetrics, I always hit "close" when the spell check comes up while doing intermittent saving. It then stops spell checking for that save action. Then, at the end, when I'm complete, THEN I'll go through each spell check prompt and verify. Much quicker and less headaches that way!

LOL. No problem. Also, for those shopmetrics fields that don't let you copy and paste, you actually still can (at least, on my computer in FireFox I can). Just highlight the text in the Shopmetrics field, then right click with your mouse over the highlighted text, and select "copy" on the popup menu that appears. Then paste in Word or Notepad to save a draft in case you are working on a spotty WiFi connection and your save may not save. And do the reverse to paste some text you wrote in Word - just highlight it in Word or Notepad, Control-C (for PCs) to copy it, then right click in the Shopmetrics box, and select "Paste". For whatever reason, they don't let you do the Microsoft Control C/Control V to copy and paste, but you can still use the Mouse popup menus to do the copying and pasting.
Is there a way to save a copy of a completed report? I like to keep them for reference.
I love this company. Already got paid via check for something I did a week ago. Way to be on top of things! Some of the other slothful companies need to go for some training over at 5D.

The old format is still in use in some cases - I have shops coming up next week that are still in "old format". I agree though -that even though Shopmetrics is not my favorite platform by far, this will be an improvement. 5D recently updated their forms and they have so many macros and algorithms behind the scenes that the forms move agonizingly slow. Tying a word and the letters show up on a 10 second delay. Maddening!!

Save to PDF. The easiest way for me is to save it through Google Chrome.

I haven't seen any job postings on the new site? Also I did like the easy to follow templates from the previous set up. The hotel shops are pretty fabulous even if there is a lot of work and narratives!
I've only seen jobs on their site in Texas and California- does anyone know if they're still scheduling outside of those areas with their old reporting system?

Not sure when the full transition will be, but I performed a shop for them using the old system last month.
