Shadow Shoppers -- Rant!

Oh, I've gotten so many e-mails from them! Usually listing jobs so far away, I just wasn't interested. But a few days ago, they sent an e-mail with about 36 job offerings, all within 45 miles of me! Wow! Boy howdy! Goody, goody! Signed right up. Applied for job after job after job. AND, to top it all off, they promised an e-mail with
even more jobs within 24 hours!!!

Oh, excuse me, did I say "applied for job after job after job". Let me correct that. I TRIED to apply for them. Since I am already (surprise, surprise!!) signed up with all the companies, what I actually ended up doing was e-mailing my schedulers with "hey, this is on the job board, but not on MY job board. I'd like to apply for
this shop, if possible. Thanks!" (with, of course, the job itself in the subject line).

Well, heads up, folks -- those jobs are NOT anywhere close to me. They aren't on my job board (or jobslinger or presto) because they don't EXIST.

Of course, I'll cancel -- no harm, no foul. But all I have to make a living with is my TIME, and my time is
valuable -- and this was a HUGE waste of time!

Oh, yes, that promised e-mail with more jobs? It was BLANK. After "here's your latest job listings for your area" just stinking BLANK. No jobs listed at all.

Rant over.

Now I'll just quietly go into the other room and kick myself!

LOL! Almost the same as my experience, specially your second paragraph. Complete waste of time for me, OP. I don't know why I even bothered but I was experimenting how effective they were.

Great post! You brightened my day. smiling smiley
I think I've made a serious mistake by signing up with Shadow Shopper for the free bronze membership.!! 1.) Their homepage shows 303 jobs near me, NONE of which I can sign up for. I don't get the little green symbol that shows it is available to shoppers with the free membership. 2.) There is not a live person at the live chat icon. 3.) It does not seem that emailed help requests are getting sent. 4.) I'm told I'm only 80% registered. It looks like I may need to refer a friend or buy the gold membership to get to 100% completion. Neither is going to happen.
Bad experience here as well. Every "free bronze shop" is actually a merchandising opportunity. When I emailed to ask, I got a form type response back that was not even related to my question.

BTW, I have TEN email from them in the last seven days with the subject "Job Notice-do you have a car? Uber needs drivers..." Not sure how this is a mystery shop opportunity...
Shadow Shopper does an automatic renewal when your subscription expires. I found this out the hard way and had to argue to get my card removed and a partial refund. Be proactive and let them know they are not to charge your card in the future. Supposedly it is in the fine print.
