First shop with Amusement Advantage

I am one of those people who get a bit (or a lot, according to my partner) nervous about the unexpected. I am going to complete my first shop with Amusement Advantage this week at an aquarium. I have read as much information as I could find about this company and type of job. I have read all guidelines and related material. Any additional tips/hints or tricks to complete this job smoothly?

I just see so much potential to make my little guy smile through these experience-type shops and I want to be as overly-prepared as possible so it can be a fun, smooth visit for all three of us.

I did that one. It was fun, but a lot of work. It is a forgiving shop. If an interaction goes south, you can do another one.

Thanks for the info! I'm glad it is forgiving! It seemed like a good first shop with them.

My partner was all excited over the "free visit" so I had to explain to him it was not going to be free for me! I expect to spend my whole night reporting the "free shop."
Hi, I just recently completed my first (and second) shops for this company. I was nervous too! It turned out not to be any different from any other shops with any other companies. If you have a lot of interactions to remember, it might help to photograph something nearby. That'll give you a timestamp on your phone camera and a visual reminder, and since you will be at an aquarium, you will fit in easily without drawing attention to yourself. Good luck and have fun.
Amusement Advantage has been great to work for. I did a shop for them last weekend and I was asked to do one this weekend but I was already booked up and committed elsewhere. So far I have never failed to have a good shop with them. You will have to remember stuff so I use my notes on my phone and make it look like I'm texting and I take lots of pictures if they ask for them. Usually the reimbursement covers most of what you spend if not all but this last shop it didn't . I was prepared for that and made it a mini-vacation and just figured that the experience made up for what wasn't covered!

Have fun!
Thanks everyone for these great replies. I appreciated each response and felt ready to take on this new kind of job.

Unfortunately, my partner has put his business ahead of mine and flaked out on me. I'm disappointed. Now I can't keep my word and complete the shop. Im so frustrated and disappointed as I do nothing but support him in his work. He promised me just one day of help, multiple times throughout the application process. Saturday night he promised, as I was reading through the guidelines.

Now I get to call AA and tell them I can no longer perform this shop until 3 weeks from now. I assume I'll be taken off the shop and possibly taken out of AA altogether. Rightly so, as I am now a flake. I know emergencies happen but this was not an emergency. He is making a choice here.

Sorry to vent so much. I just feel really let down.

brothabart8, sorry to hear about your partner flaking on you. Is there anyone else you can take? Friend? Neighbor? Relative?
No. Everyone I know who can spend the whole day doing this shop is a stay at home mom and I can't afford to bring their kids too.

Thanks for letting me vent.
Does it require two ADULTS? Usually, it's two people, so your son would count. Before flaking, I'd check with the scheduler to see if it will work without your planned partner.

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
I've already been taken off the assignment. My 3 year old son has some sensory issues and there is a very small portion of the assignment he would have freaked out at which is why I had planned on my partner being there to help. Lesson learned, I guess.

I dont know if anyone will see this but I am quite excited so I am sharing anyway! I was assigned this shop last week (I assume no one else could do it so they gave me a second chance). I performed the shop and received a 100%! Everything was perfect and I got to treat my family to a nice day out. My partner was exhausted that day due to a heavy work week but he was a great, helpful support for the shop. My son had a blast and asked to go back today! Additionally, AA gave me a $5 bonus for completing my first shop and a $5 for getting the shop done early. Thanks for all the helpful advice I received here!
AA was the second company I ever shopped for. I remember the reports and number of interactions to be exhaustive. 500+ shops later with other MSC, I think they might be a piede of cake now having more experience. You have to purchase two tickets. How would they know if you bought two but walked in alone. We single people like to visit these places too. Going solo does not make us stand out as shoppers.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
I thought the report was time consuming, but easy. It actually seemed quite generic to me. I think perhaps I wrote too much for the narratives. Im sure they liked that but I probably didn't need to write so much. Now I know for next time! I'd like to work my way up to hotel shops and such.
I am similar to you and I have found that I worry excessively. Especially in the beginning. So I have learned to not worry so much. I like Amusement Advantage and sometimes get excellent shops with them. I recently did a VERY expensive Theme park's Halloween night which was a lot of fun and paid decently in tickets. I also received a really high score on my writeup. I found them forgiving as there was no way to actually meet all the requirements in the time period because of the crowds, but I was told to do my best. I encourage you to always be communicative early on if things go sideways- don't think it will be ok in the long run. You have to notify them while on the shop.
