KSS and Maritz....How do they work together?

Often, the same shops are posted...sometimes KSS has a bonus, sometimes Maritz has the bonus....sometimes the shop just disappears from the KSS log or one's application file...sometimes KSS just drops your application without comment. Can anyone shed some light on how they are working together?

KSS does the scheduling for Maritz. I will apply for a shop through Maritz and hear nothing, ever. I will apply for the same shop through KSS and have it assigned the same day. Occasionally, Maritz will call me asking if I can do a shop. I'm not sure if they realized that I had already applied for the shop weeks earlier.

When I get a shop assigned through KSS, I get the guidelines and do the report through Maritz.

KSS schedules for Maritz and other MSCs. I do the banks and oil changes.

Thanks, Honny....that was informative...I think I spend a lot of time with KSS/Maritz in order to complete a single MaritzCX shop! (Confirming, entry on the Maritz site, invoicing on the Maritz site, entry on the KSS site) Geez!
Trust me, wine, I understand. KSS does the same thing with other MSCs as well. KSS will assign the shop quickly, then you deal with the MSC from that point on.

Just curious - do you have to have special connections to folks at KSS in order to get a shop assigned? I have requested shops instantly as soon as the email hits my inbox and a few hours later or the next day I get an email that says it was assigned to someone else. I have never done a shop for them. I am getting a little frustrated ..like I am wasting my time reading through their shops and requesting them and I have now gotten two that were assigned to someone else and I have about 10 still out there I requested. What to do? And the 10 still out there are with Maritz - which I am signed up with. Should I request the shop on the Maritz site?????? Confused and frustrated

You do not have to have special connections to KSS schdulers to get jobs, but, if a shopper with a track record applies and a shopper with no track record applies, guess who they pick. When they send out the email, they send out a LOT of emails and do not assign instantly. They go in 2-4 hours later (or sometimes later than that) and look to see what fish they have on the line. They take their pick. It doesn't necessarily matter if you were the first to apply. If you were the only one to apply for a certain job, they would assign it to you. If they have a choice, they pick whoever appears to them to be the best choice.

Have you done any shops for Maritz yet? After you perform 10 shops for Maritz, you will be able to self-assign, so at that point it might be better to apply on the Martiz site UNLESS the KSS scheduler is offering a bonus that is not visible on the Maritz site.

I would say relax and realize that it's important to build a track record. Someone has been doing these shops on a regular basis before you came on the scene, so it won't necessarily be easy to quickly apply for and get jobs. Work to establish yourself.
Have you tried putting a nice little note to the scheduler in the comments box? Sometimes a few kind words can go along way.

My experience is somewhat the opposite of Honny. Although Maritz and KSS post shops for the same client I have not seen the same location posted for both. I have been self-assigning for Marita for 3 years and find the shops I select from Jobs Available are immediately posted to my job board. I also self-assign with KSS, after one of the schedulers has emailed me with a list of jobs available. It usually takes a day or so to have the shop moved from "pending" to my job board. And I find that KSS posts bonuses much quicker than Maritz but I can negotiate for higher bonuses with Maritz.

How much is a high bonus? I have some shops I might offer to do for a good bonus. I wany to maximize the profit, but I don't want to alienate them with something unreasonable. I have gotten $30 for a location 50 miles away. I know different circumstances will have different amounts, but how much could I be getting? Would they ever do $50? $100?
Threemom, The amount you can get from a negotiation depends on a number of factors including distance, time of the month/quarter, number of shops involved, your past history and perhaps most important - how urgently the MSC needs the shop done. It is important to know what your minimum is that you will accept, whether that be earnings per hour, per day or per mile. Not every negotiation ends with a big bonus. Sometimes the best negotiation ends with a "no". And yes, I have done single uncomplicated shops with a $100 bonus. Not often but possible. Perhaps my best advice is don't be a pig, pigs get slaughtered.
I have been applying to both companies for shops for the last week and have gotten nothing from either. I just signed up through both of them about a week and a half ago and I understand you have to "prove yourself" so to speak for each company but how can I if i'm not getting at least one to start ya know? Is it normally this difficult to get in with them?

would say getting responses from companies, including Maritz and KSS, is much more difficult this time of year. It is the holiday season and a lot of them take time off. I would not expect to hear much between now and January 2nd. After that, it should get a lot easier to get in touch with reps from MSCs.
