Perhaps you and those that added to this content might consider the JC reference potentially offensive, off topic and unnecessary. Surely another analogy could have been used.

I am neither a snowflake or a cupcake, but I am indeed offended at your use of "Jesus Christ" as an expletive.

Hi there, I'm Amanda with Data Quest, Ltd. I followed up with our pay roll department and we did in fact make a mistake with your payment amount, which I apologize for. A new check was cut for the balance owed to you, and put in the mail on Monday, November 28th. Please reach out to us if you have not yet received it. Additionally, our office is closed from 5PM Friday through 9AM Monday, hence why you did not receive an immediate response to the email you sent on Sunday, November 26th. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly.
Why must people get so offended so easily over things that really aren't a big deal? Your faith is YOUR faith, not everybody else's. Quit whining about how offensive it is for others to use a name in a way you don't agree with. It affects nobody and is hurting nobody. Grow up.

Also, thank you, @AmandaR, for jumping in to clarify this whole situation that should never have shown up here in the first place. DQ quickly became my favorite MSC this year.

well said...on both issues
I might add that I have heard a couple of pastors use the phrase, more than once. I'm beginning to think that some wag at a divinity school thought that up as a substitute for really egregious expletives. And, no, I am not kidding about that. Was it the Franciscans and the Jesuits who took up bloody weapons over the issue of whether or not God had a sense of humor? (Or was that the question of whether or not Jesus ever laughed?)

The choice to use it in that manner is one that is pointed. There are literally millions of other choices there. To choose this is done specifically TO offend.

I've asked Jacob to review and remove this. It's his forum and his decision. But using JC as an expletive is a purposeful and targeted jab. It's unnecessary.

Over the past few weeks, several members of this forum have become downright caustic. We all have different opinions, and often posts where there is a difference show kindness and understanding. Not lately, and it's detrimental to the forum.

(offensive comment removed)You're easily offended.

You sir/madam might be one of the "kids, get off my lawn" kind of person.

pity to be you.

While going to grad school at USC (los angeles) in 1987 Pope John Paul II visited los angeles. my fraternity bought 12 lawn sprinklers in his likeness where the hose went underneath his robe (from behind) and the water shot up through the fingers of his upstretched hands. we, and some sororities bought a few dozen "pope on a rope" which was a soap product in his likeness. at that time there was a very popular product called "soap on a rope" (a bar of soap attached to a sturdy rope which hung from shower hardware), these novelties and lots of others were featured on a lot of news programs (60 minutes, etc) and the catholic diocese responded that they found all the products (except some verrrry outrageous things) to be all in fun and they had no problem with these novelties and welcomed anything and everything that showcased their agenda. the diocese also had not issue with the 1985 movie "fletch" where the "JC on a bicycle" was featured.

"caustic"...did you really write that several members of this forum have become caustic????

how about taking the offensive word (to some, not moi) "christmas" out of your postings cuz some might take umbrage?

just sayin'.
I could take offense to the assumption that another forum member presumes to know what I was thinking when I made the comment I made. As a non Christian, I could take offense to someone referring to Christmas or Christ in a more serious fashion.
I find the JC reference I used funny and that was why I used it. It's a joke. You don't think it's funny? That's ok. You're offended? That's ok too, and pretty amusing, since I'm as anti-dogma as they come. If I wanted to seriously attack a religious figure, everyone reading would know beyond a doubt I was going there.

We CHOOSE to be offended by the actions and words of others. You can simply choose not to; but then where would you place your self-righteousness that you feel you are entitled to?
