Getting a Chipotle Referral

Irene, if you haven't emailed Ardent, I don't think you can really say that if there were a way to get in, you'd have found it. If you really do want to shop the company, it would be worth a minute of your time to hear the answer, straight from the horse's mouth.

BTW, there was more than one over 55 year old in my training, which was not remotely near Florida.

I did fill out application (maybe 3 years ago), and no response. I just emailed link and will see what happens.....they are having a training this month, so, maybe personal email will help.

Yes, I did that too, and never heard back. I only got in after being accepted by KSS for training.

Good luck, Irene.
I love Mexican food but this place doesn't do a thing for me. I wouldn't mind a free burrito every once and while but I don't get the fascination with this place. In my area except for about an hour around lunch time you're usually the first in line.
Follow up directly with the company. My app might have fallen through the cracks, but I reached out. They had a training coming up in my area and after about two months I was shopping. Love the company, high class all the way.
The list of places where shoppers are needed, and the list of orphaned shops on their site should not be construed as the only places that they are needing new shoppers. In my chat with Deanna a couple of months back I noted that my sister might begin shopping. Deanna said that she would love to have a new shopper in my sister's area because, although she had enough shoppers "on paper" there, she was seriously short of really reliable shoppers there. I suspect, for instance, that there are many more places in Colorado that need more shoppers. Reliable shoppers get very top priority in their monthly assignments.

Walesmaven. Wrote Deanna, she is a doll, going to the training, application was accepted. My problem beside age was Kern and the website, but Deanna's good word got past that....thanks for posting the link.

Ardent Services handles Chipotle. I worked for them until I got sick of the food. They insist on you taking jobs for a whole bunch of different restaurants with the same identical limited food choices. The first 20 times you go it is ok, but after a while, you can get tired of it (AND I started gaining weight). I may try and restart with them, however, because the pay was all right--for a mystery shopping company, that is.
-As far as I know Ardent only handles Chipotle restaurants.
-Also, I live in Southern California. If you live here, you can sign on with Ardent as there are many of the restaurants here.
-I got my referral to Chipotle from Kern Scheduling as well.
Kern will not accept you for training if your over or under a certain age. I used the link posted above, and Deanna had me fill out application, give writing sample, and she accepted me and wrote to Kern...it was a long way around, but it worked. I like their food, find it healthy and there are several close by....took me three years to get accepted, and knowing who to contact was the only thing that helped.

Welcome aboard, Irene. The Chipotle bus is lots of fun... and yes, the food is healthy... they are working on getting everything organic, and it's really delicious. I know you'll appreciate the in-depth training you'll receive and enjoy doing the shops. They give great feedback and are such a supportive company!

Well, for everyone watching my struggle to get into Chilpolte, it's a done deal. Went to the training yesterday, very interesting and a great story about the company, loved the food and really enjoyed learning their way and knowing what your getting into. Met 9 shoppers, one near me that posts on this forum now and then, and has been getting jobs in my area (although she doesn't live here). We laughed about it (kinda). Hi Julie......awaiting my first job, did DD and ready to go. Many new shoppers were there, (9) total and most having only done one job, and not knowing too much, just my observation. I'm glad I'm in and now on good terms with Kern.

As for gaining weight, I bring more than half of my burrito bowl home for lunches later in the week, and leave the tasted, but unfinished, chips behind. By asking to extra beans and getting something like a bowl instead of a burrito, you can stretch the bowls quite far, lol. Frequently eating an entire, jumbo Chipotle burrito might not be the best thing for your waistline.

As for having to take a whole bunch of shops per month, you can decline any shop(s) and stay active. I frequently have to travel. I just mail Deanna to let her know that I am not disinterested.... just temporarily out of the area.

Finally, as you travel, check out the list of "orphans" on their web site for chances at free food along your route. (It's especially difficult for them to staff the airport shops, so plan ahead if you are flying. The second half of your Chipotle lunch will also make a terrific airplane meal. Watch the others noshing on tiny dry sandwiches, as you enjoy.)

I'm with you as far as ordering, lunch burritos not for my waist, but do love the bowls. My weight plan is doing a lunch, and bringing some home for dinner. I'm really impressed with their site, and being able to choose your locations. I did look at their orphan's, nothing remotely close, but I see how it works for you video folks doing a run. What a well planned program, the wait was worth it. They said they just opened in London and Paris, so going global is next for them. Wouldn't be bad to have stock in this company.

As for gaining weight. You dont have to eat the whole meal just enough to check the food.
But, you do have to have control, and I love chips....if I gain, I'll lose it like I do on all my restaurant shops....days I'm eating home is diet time.

Just a reminder that the first couple of Chipotle reports may take a while for some shoppers. But, those of us who have mastered the topics (smile, eye contact, voice tone, exact greeting) it is much easier to construct a report that will be useful to this project. I suspect, also, that very inexperienced shoppers are soon gone, of their own volition, from this client.

The Manager that did the training told us there is one Chipotle that gets the same shopper over and over. He does the report on his computer while lunching.....employees can see what he is doing, yet he returns monthly, they know he is the shopper...strange huh!! I do agree, the newbies won't last.

Wow, they must not care about having shoppers ID'd. They're no golden arches, ironically enough.

I find that bizarre. It sounds like it might be a hard to fill location. There are many stores where I live, and they always rotate me.
If the employees have some smarts, they'll do exactly what they're supposed to do, and and reap positive reports. Flip side, if and when a negative report is submitted, the manager is likely to report that the shopper has been identified.

Either scenario is squirrely and paints the MSP and the shopper in a bad light. The MSP should adhere to rotation requirements and the shopper should not be entering the report onsite. What a farce.

"The newbies won't last"?! Harsh. And, an unfair generalization.
Had you been to my training and heard some of the questions asked by the new shoppers, you might not say that...the employees laugh at him, and it is a matter of time before they get rid of him, doing reports at the place, what a fool. This is one smart bunch of employees, seeing they have his number, as long as he gives good reports he could be safe, but, the place is run like a fine clock, I guess good reports are the norm.

When I said that I thought that inexperienced shoppers would soon quit Chipotle shops I was referring to the demands of the report that is required and opining that many newbies would not have the patience to master the report, and would quit first.

I do know that there are locations where they are short of trained shoppers who are reliable. The client expands faster than the trained shopper force.

I as well feel that way, you need experience to master the report, it wasn't a putdown, after printing out and reading report, it can be overwhelming for a new shopper. walesmaven Wrote:

I think calling someone a fool is a real put down. Just because he asked a question about something, doesnt make someone a fool.
You read into that, pease re-read my original post. I was speaking of a shopper that does the report in the restaurant while shopping, employees know it, can see it and it is a matter of time before he get's the boot if that's not a fool, what is?

Irene, glad you enjoyed the training. Have you done a shop yet?
I have gone online and told the new shops are posted the first of the month, so, no not yet. Just hoping the first one is the one 2 miles from my house. I also applied for the one in Beverly Hills, where I work monthly, we'll see. I really learned alot at training, quite an amazing company, (in this economy)love the way they think.

I put my shop in my note pad on my phone so I guesst that makes me a fool too. I have been shopping for them for three years and never had any problems. I think its sad that people think they are better then everyone else. Whatever!!! You dont have to reply to this because I really dont care what you think. I make over 2500 a month so I must be doing something right.
