A Closer Look

Nicest folks in the World. I have only done restaurant shops. Do they shop any other kind of stores?

They show more shops, but never in my area....you'll see them when they are available in your area.

There is an available tab that lists everything in your area and you just need to view that to get an idea of their clients in your area. And yes totally agree that they are the best to work with. I had a clarification question on one of their shops and we emailed back and forth a little bit bec. I wanted to get the shop done correctly since it was my first time for this shop and they were really nice and responded quickly each time. I can't wait to work with them on more shops.
Yes, your locations tab will show all of their clients in your area. Some of those clients are not regularly shopped. A couple in my area show up once or twice a year, but I guess they are 'clients' until they go elsewhere. I have seen fitness centers and a non-food specialty shop. I have never seen banks or gas stations or general retail places. I think that is just not their forte.
They have gas stations around here. Just reimbursement of $25 gas and 1 item in the store.
I agree here...real nice folks. I have done a few restaurant shops for them over the years. Never an issue.
Would love $25 of gas reimbursement!

"Finally, whatever things are good, true, noble, lovely, of good report...if there be any virtue, if there be any praise...think on these things." ....It's a command, not a suggestion!
These guys are really cheap. In Illinois, all they have are restaurant shops whereby instead of reimbursement, they give you a gift card. That is basically the equivalent to having a buy one, get one free coupon. Only difference is that you have to do the report & wait. Big deal!!
They primarily only have bank shops in my area. Have done a few shops for them and they have been great and the reports very easy and the pay was fair. Wouldn't hesitate to do more work for them.

I think that depends on the client. I get a check for some and a gift card for others, the cards work well on my road trips from GA TO PA with my daughters.

Los Angeles shops are reimbursement only, I have never seen a gift card.

This is my #1 mystery shopping company. They are helpful, work with your schedule and are always easy to communicate with. They are, in my opinion, the most professional, well run and helpful company I have ever worked with. Their guidelines are thorough. The reports are nicely set up and easy to fill out. There is nothing confusing or unclear in the guidelines or reports. The editors always provide feedback for each shop. The shops are excellent. I have done many hotel and fine dining shops for them over the past 4 years. Everybody I have spoken to or dealt with at A Closer Look has been very nice.
I too am a huge ACL fan. I've done more than 200 shops for them. I think perhaps one or two have been returned because I did not respond to "no" answers, but never has a shop been rejected. Recently an editor called with a report question and with an information question because I had mentioned something they were unaware of and wanted/needed to find out more about. I found myself chatting with somebody I would really like to have lunch with someday and just 'visit'. Very definitely high on my list of professional and helpful companies to work with. They have standards, they give guidance for writing their reports, they aren't arbitrary about how reports are handled and they pay right on the button. Now if I could just persuade them to go to direct deposit . . .
I met and chatted at length with two of their senior managers at the IMSC conference in Orlando. I came away with a very high opinion of their standards and awareness of what the shoppers go through to get the job done right. I am eager to do hotel shops for them because of the boost that these shops will give my rewards status (and points) with a couple of hotel chains.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I just applied for a hotel in a town I wouldn't normally go to on my own, but is only an hour away, one nite getaway...as long as you can keep points, it all works.

I love shopping and dining out for this company! In the DFW area of TX the shops are reimbursement shops unless otherwise noted. I agree I think it depends on the contract the client and ACL have as to whether it is a gift card or reimbursement.
What tme of the month are the shops posted. I have only been offered a wing shop which I was not interested in.
Shops usually start to go up about the 19th-21st, although they add shops all month long.

Very good company. They use to have Holiday Inn overnight stays. But I believe they lost that contract. To bad.
