When I did it in the 1990s only a very small portion of submitted forms ever had any additional contact at all. When forms were mailed in, the editors looked them over. If there were contradictory answers or certain critical questions were answered (or multiple answer dots filled in), they were sent over to the phone bank. When phone bank folks completed calls on the handful they were working on they were either dropped into the "No Answer, Call Again" bin or "Edit" bin or "Foreign Language" bin. They would then grab another handful of the bottom of the incoming stack (those being the oldest) and continue making follow up phone calls. The likelihood of speaking to the same Census person twice was slim to none. Home visits only happened if you didn't mail in the form. The head of household is the person who is to fill out the form, so there should be no need to speak with any other members of the household.

But I'm not sure what is happening to you here. Is this current? The Census as NOT STARTED YET. The forms are to be in the mail next week from a letter I got the other day. I would sure ask for this woman's identification because if this is current you are being scammed I suspect.

As for legal. You ARE required by law to answer the Census. Fines and penalties for failure to do so generally are $100 per day up to a maximum of $5000 I believe. I have never heard of them imposing the fines or penalties.

This is a SHOPPER forum: for shoppers, by shoppers, about shoppers. It is NOT geared to helping people find work. This is geared to allowing shoppers to discuss companies, jobs and problems of shoppers, NOT to help people find work. (To anyone only looking for work: you are looking in the wrong place!!!!) And the forum is open to all; when you ask a question and open a thread, it is NOT "your" thread...... your comment to dee about "how dare you get on someone else's thread...." is appalling. When they first came out they offered a shopper manual of I believe some 40 pages or so describing the job. The phone conference call sort of reconfirmed that you are touching, feeling and recording everything from the front door to the toilet paper. That is why it is anticipated it will take 2 days. To me the most troubling was the number of anticipated interactions with a manager or similar. In the stores in my area you can wait 15 minutes to trip a passing associate. Forget a manager unless you fall on that back round and an accident report must be written up. I could spend a day just trying to find the manager!

> Excuse me, but I came here specifically to find
> jobs that I can take and that pay enough money to
> pay my bills.
> I saw NO "limit" on the amount of questions I
> could ask, regarding Movie theater checks, when I
> signed up here, and IF no one answers that
> question (and I see other movie checkers ALSO
> asking that), then YES, I'm going to keep asking.
>
NeedsGoodJobs, there is no limit to the questions you can ask, and you should be able to get very good, comprehensive answers to the questions about shopping that you ask. There are many experienced shoppers here who are willing to share their knowledge and experience. I've learned a lot from them. However, the point is the TYPE of questions to ask. This is a SHOPPER forum, not a MSP-run forum. You won't find any jobs here. No one here can send you any or tell you where to get them. Ask all the question you want about how to shop, how to fill out reports, how deal with specific problems, or about what kind of track record a specific MSP has. But if you want to find good jobs, you are in the wrong place. You need to be applying with MSPs and searching their job boards.

> Oh, I so agree with you. I had this one scheduler
> actually CALL Me up offering me a position for
> those stupid cigarette/alcohol shops (you have to
> be like 18-21 to even b eligible). I had to go to
> the public library since my computer was down that
> day, and after I spent like 3 hours of my time, I
> THEN find out that they wouldn't even hire me, cuz
> I wasn't 25 years old!
>
> That's discrimination! They can pay a 18 year old
> $35 for a 15 min shop, but not pay even $3 for an
> older person to drive over 50 miles to do a stupid
> gas shop, someone needs to complain to the EEOC
> about this, cuz this is nothing but deceptive
> business practices and discrimination!

I all fairness (if you are interested in that sort of thing) those $35 shops for 18-25 year olds started out at $4 just like the gas shops. Why they accelerate much faster is anyone's guess. My hunch is that the company that we do those shops for owns CoRI. That is just my opinion. They originate from the same place.
BTW, you can still do those 18-25 yo shops if you take someone 18-25 yo with you. I get my nieces and nephews to go with me and give them $10 each. Tried encouraging them to do the shops themselves, but I don't have the time or will to force anyone to make money; they have to have some initiative themselves

The project runs from X to X, the project pay is $12.00 per store just to visit the store and speak with the manager. If a particular store places an order you will be paid $24.00 for that store. Also, if the store orders there will be another visit approximately 3 weeks from date of order to ensure the product arrives – this visit project pay is an additional $12.00.

When have you bothered to assist anyone you didn't like or agree with 100% totally dee shops?
You're a mean person! I've seen you take down several posters here in just the few days I've been here.. I bet quite a few people do not like you on this board.

I have seen you refuse to answer questions many times from a newbie or someone desperately seeking work. Does that make you feel good at night? You sleep well?
You're the one with the issues, not me. I'm just looking for work, that's all.

And HOW DARE you get on someone else's thread who's looking for work, for a forum that's GEARED to help people FIND work and try to make insulting belittling comments?

Isn't that against the rules here?
Do you OWN this website?? It sure seems like it, the way you've been acting. Chill out doo shops

that's good to know about Maritz.. I don't know why the gas shops are so involved, but pay so little!
I think they are some of most complex shops I've done, really, because of all the photos, all the quetions you must ask, though the time to do the shop itself is quite small!

But for them to want you to travel ALL the way back to the gas station? Ummm. no thanks, we don't have gas station on every corner either, Wud be nice....

Not to say there's not gas station close by, but they never come up on the board most time.
