Thanks for the input Paul. As folks find the forums to ask about obvious scams there is little we can do except warn them off because some companies evidently don't want to hear about it. Doug Rector had suggested that folks file a complaint with the FTC at www.ftc.gov and put all materials in a ziplock bag to keep from adding too many fingerprints in case the FTC wanted the materials in a follow up.

So it is good to hear that you folks are willing to talk directly with the folks who are being scammed. Unfortunately most of them are not already mystery shoppers so have no clue of where to look or who to ask. I suspect that those who find a forum are only the tip of the iceberg.
Sadly you're correct. We are speaking to many people each day, most of whom have suspicions it's a scam but we're also hearing from people who have fallen for it and I imagine that's just the tip of the iceberg. People want to believe they've come into some good fortune so seem to make themselves believe it.

As long as people fall for it, there will be people who'll send out the checks and pocket the money.
The 'middle of the road' are really frustrating. They had enough skepticism to do the research and find the forum and then argue that THEIR check was real because their bank just cleared it. So off they go on their merry rounds and somehow they never come back to the forum to tell us 'oops'. They are completely unwilling to believe that mystery shopping pays so little per shop and would require shoppers to front money for reimbursement that my sense is they think WE are the ones being scammed. :-)
