Welcome sunny900. It is normal and required for the companies you work with to have your SSN. This comes up often. Look in your URL bar to see if it indicates that you are communicating with a secure website (instead of http:// it should read https:// You also may see little padlock icons indicating the site is secure. Of course do not send that information to an unknown "company" without a valid website as an email unless you are 100% sure you are dealing with a legitimate request from a legitimate company to a corporate website. Some companies will not approve you as a shopper and/or will not award you jobs without a verifiable ssn.
