Hello From Shoppers' View!

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am the new Director of Video Shopping at Shoppers' View. We are based out of Grand Rapids, MI and have shop opportunities all over the country, video, phone, and on-sites alike. I'm new to the job, and so far the biggest and probably eternal challenge is expanding the pool of video shoppers. If you're a video shopper, or would like to be one, I look forward to connecting. Happy shopping!

Welcome to the forum Joe!

I'm registered with Shoppers' View, but I never see any shops in CO. Does your company provide video equipment or must the shopper own their own? I'm interested in delving in video shops, but don't want to purchase equipment before I know I like it.

Hello COMystery,

We don't have any CO video shops yet. Utah, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Texas is about as close as we are getting to CO right now.

In keeping with IRS guidelines on using contracted employees, we choose not to provide our shoppers with equipment. We (and the IRS) feel that it is the contractor's responsibility to obtain equipment provided to complete a successful job. However, I understand why you would not want to purchase something right away, and I think there are places you can rent the equipment needed. There is a company called Grey Hawk Video Solutions that is starting a program. Maybe check them out.
Joe, some MSCs also rent equipment which should satisfy the IRS guidelines. It varies from as little as $10 to as much as $50 per contracted shop. I can understand with Shopper's View being newer to video, it probably wouldn't be worth your while at this point and may never be worth the associated hassles.

If Grey Hawk is starting a rental program, it will be much better for shoppers who might want to perform several video shops for different MSCs. For instance, you cannot rent a camera from Ellis for one of their shops then use it on assignments for Shopper's View while it is in your possession.

Yes, that's right. There are ways around it, but not worth my time. Hopefully Grey Hawk does well and I'll never have to worry about it!
