I am just starting this process, and wondered if I can get any insight into which companies work in my area of Winnipeg Mb., Canada? if so how do I go about accessing this? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. Although we help each other quite a bit on the forum, as independent contractors who are small business owners, we are actually competitors. Those who would know about specific opportunities in your area are the mystery shoppers who are currently performing those assignments. They may be very unwilling to pass along their client list to you so you can grab the shops they currently perform. It takes a lot of time and work to build a good client list and it represents a significant investment of time in each contractor's business. My client list is very valuable to me.

The best way to get started is to set aside plenty of time to read here and learn and plan the startup of your mystery shopping business. Sign up with as many companies as you can. Many of the successful mystery shoppers who post here are signed up with at least 100 or more. It is very time-consuming to get started. Don't get discouraged. It's worth the time and effort, and the investment in your business will pay off.

Welcome to the forum from another Canadian. I am from Alberta but have done some mystery shops while visiting in Winnipeg.

The info roflwofl gave you is correct. I signed up with basically every company on the list at the bottom. Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies. I checked job boards regularly until I found who had shops where I live- and found which shops I enjoy doing.

[www.performalogics.com] is one of my favourites, but I do not know if they have work in Winnipeg.

[www.intouchinsight.com] is another favourite of mine.

I mystery shop in a small city and the surrounding tiny towns. I have to check a lot of job boards to find enough work since I only get one job with some of the mystery shopping companies. The list here really got me going with mystery shopping.
