Newbie Shooper from Colorful Colorado...

Hello all! I have been a mystery shopper for oh... 45 minutes now. I actually discovered this forum quite by accident, and I'm GLAD I did. I have a long background in real estate sales, and the opportunity has presented itself to begin shopping as related to this industry.
I'm certain this question gets posted at LEAST once a day here, but I'm honestly far too lazy to scroll down to check. <insert goofy grin here>
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced (less than $100 if at all possible) video camera gizmo set up that would allow me to shop/ follow around a hyper real estate salesperson while she's trotting through a house? (These guys drink LOTS of coffee). I have seen stuff from BestBuy to Amazon priced from $45 to $550... Yikes!
Can I get some advice here, buddies? -Don 'dad'

Welcome to the forum. Please amble on over to the New Mystery Shoppers area and read, read, read, the topics "pinned" to the top of the list there. We try to make this easy, but we are not going to spoon feed shoppers when we have already provided a host of FREE resources. ENJOY. We are here to help when you have done some basic homework.

You will do well to "search video" for the past 30 days. Or, just find the very recent thread about video where we discuss what is and is not adequate equipment. The video MS industry is a very serious group and the tech standards for video quality definitely WILL NOT be met by cheap equipment. Also, video may not be for MS newbies.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I don't consider video shopping to be rocket science by any means. However, it would be overwhelming for a brand new shopper. Most shoppers are going to have anxiety about a traditional mystery shop, especially as something as complicated as a new home shop, because there is so much to remember. To include the added stress all of us experience with our early video work is too much. Keep in mind, you may have been on the other side of the camera, but now you have to look at everything through the eyes of the employer.

Wales; I'm not asking to be "spoon fed" dick. All you really needed to do was to tell me about the "new mystery shoppers area."
Wales was just being helpful. You may not want to burn bridges with the shoppers with considerably more than 45 minutes experience. Just saying.
You have to admit, making a comment that you are too lazy to scroll down invited the response.

Mystery shopping, other than video, can be started with low to no cost. OTOH, there is a lot of sweat equity which includes learning how to approach it as a business.

Keep in mind, there are a lot of shoppers here with a combined decades of experience. Everything from the hobby or lifestyle shoppers focusing on fine dining, to those using it for supplemental income and even some who make a living with just mystery shopping. What some shoppers still don't grasp, there is much help and even much work to be had from fellow shoppers. Personally, I have had several long-term, ongoing and lucrative projects as the result of relationships with other shoppers. For those type of special projects the companies prefer to look to their existing shoppers rather than post randomly on job boards.
