nice to meet you all, beginning my journey.

Hey there, I appreciate joining the forum. I will keep it short (if I can lol)....I am retiring next year from a long time, full time career. I've sold my home and I'm putting my things in storage...ready to start a new life and maybe do a little work for myself. I'll be renting until my new life takes shape. I've always been fascinated by mystery shopping...ever since doing some very part time work for Grass Roots Mystery Guest and watching Viaggio Sola!....Since I'm still working a full time job, I need to start slowly and build my way up until my schedule really opens up. I am interested in seeing how far I can take this. I think I have the right skills for it...my 30 year career has involved investigating and writing. Again, thank you and nice to meet you all.

Barefoot Bliss,
Welcome!

I am also in the Washington DC region and, unlike David, I am a very active mystery shopper. Please let me know if I can help you to ease into this great career opportunity to start your own business. First rule: do not pay anyone any fees in order to obtain shops or shop information. Second rule: there are only 3 recognized sources of authentic MS training other than this forum. One is for video shopping and the others are two national organizations (IMSC and MSPA). ALL of the shopper education on this forum is free. The others charge fees. Some of their training courses are very much worthwhile. So called Private Investigator training is NOT needed, in any shape or form.

We are here to help you to sort through your options and to avoid scams.

Enjoy!

Hi Barefoot, welcome to the forum! Like Wales wrote, you can learn much and advance your MS career without paying money out of pocket. And just for the record, David is a PI instructor who is trying to lure new shoppers from our forum to take his courses...even though he didn't promote them in this thread he has posted elsewhere in the forum about it, so just ignore it. He is not a shopper, nor an owner/rep of this forum (he just pretends to be). You will learn a lot more (for free) from reading the link for new shoppers at the bottom of this page.
Dave, you are not a shopper, not a prospective shopper, not an MSC rep or owner, and you do not have any affiliation with the owner/moderators of this forum. You present yourself to new members as someone who is a member of the mystery shopping community which is a complete load of bollocks. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that there must be an ulterior motive, and I have read your self-promoting posts in other threads. New shoppers, beware and stay on your toes.

What David does not say is that I have NO FINANCIAL INTEREST in the training sources that I mentioned. With him, all is innuendo!

Thank you all for the replies and helpful insight...like just about any new endeavor, there appears to be some navigation for me to do - I'm noticing there are lots of companies and all kind of opportunities involved and so - many paths to take...so I am hoping to narrow it down to my own interests - instead of a shot gun approach. Again, thank you.
Welcome from little ole me.....I know you will enjoy this part of your new beginning. I too turned to MSing after my retirement, but it took me a few years to find this. This is a great journey for retiree's, and writing an important part of it..enjoy and the best. Wales knows so much, your lucky to have her in your corner.....

Live consciously....
