On becoming a mystery shopper.....

Hi.
I'm new here and so far finding this site very useful.
Seems there ought to be a way to screen companies by whether or not they have shops in your area before tediously going through each of their signing up procedures only to find out that they do not work or have shops in or near their area.
Any hints?????

There is not a particularly good way to do that. We've all gone through the tedious process of signing up for many companies that don't offer work in our areas. Keep in mind that MSC's compete for clients and contracts change periodically. Just because a company does not have work in your area now does not mean that they won't next month.

To help yourself some, you can sign up for the companies most frequently mentioned on the forum. They tend to be the larger MSC's with work pretty much everywhere.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
Do you use the Presto Insta Shop? It will show shops in your area from several companies. Not all companies use that though. So, you still need to search the job board but it helps. Jobslinger has shops too.
In addition to the above mentioned Presto Insta Shop (shows companies that use Sassie reporting platform) and Jobslinger (another job board), there is also iSS (I Secret Shop) and Mystery Shopping Job Board (msjobboard.com). At least they can give you an idea of which companies have shops in your area.

Aw, that's right, I haven't been receiving any msjobboard emails since......hmmmm......last year some time.
I still get those msjobboard emails about once a month but they are totally useless since those jobs are long gone by the time the email comes in. But, for someone who wants to see what kind of shops are in their area and what companies have them, it's useful so they can sign up with those companies.
It's true, it's better if you keep up with checking the MSCs website. But you can see what shops you may have missed because they show 'backup' assignments for ones that have been assigned but not yet completed. Yes, it used to frustrate me to have the email arrive and check the board and the assignments have already been taken.
I mean, sometimes I get the email and I know the jobs were taken two weeks previously because I was the one who took them!
