Hello from a rookie!!!!

So happy to find this forum. I've been reading up and lurking a bit before I decided to introduce myself. I've researched on Google and blog after blog about mystery shopping and must say the information here is the best.
I'm ready to get started with this new adventure and the goal is to make a secondary income. I'm a full time firefighter and with my work schedule I have plenty of time on my days off in between shifts to venture out and do some shops. I'm sure I'll be asking some of the veteran shoppers plenty of questions and doing my best to learn the ropes.
Anyways, thank you letting me be a part of the community here. I look foward to getting to know everyone, and hopefully earn some cash lol.

Thank you, and I just noticed I put this in the wrong thread. Totally meant to go in the New member introduction area. Long day at work apparently lol
Welcome!
If you haven't taken a look already, there is a lot of good information in the "New Shoppers" area on this forum. Feel free to ask if you have questions - you are likely to get multiple answers.

Awesome and thank you for the reply. I've been doing a ton of research the past few days and just taking my time before I sign up with any companies just yet. I guess my first question is can you actually do shops without buying anything and still make decent money? I know that sounds like a silly question since this is Mystery shopping, but I guess if the real money is in making some kind of purchase then if I don't get a full reimbursement then I could always sell the items on ebay or Craigslist.
Yes.
Apartments can be a little work as they involve a fair amount of writing, but you never have to buy anything and they pay well. Bank assignments are similar. New car shops have a significant range, but can be very worthwhile. There are many "inquiry" shops that require no purchase at all. Often, your purchase is reimbursed and considered part of your compensation. However, the compensation for shops not requiring a purchase is cash. 90% of the shops I accept to not require a purchase at all.

If you are looking at mystery shopping as a pure money-maker (as opposed to a way to enjoy nicer things that you would not otherwise do or be able to afford), you can also look for shops that offer purchases that you would need to make anyhow. For instance, I am fairly certain that you eat. Whether you tend to eat out or buy groceries, you can shop such locations and have some or all of your food reimbursed. If you have a car, you likely need occasional oil changes. Etc.

I would suggest that you start signing up for companies ,even if you are not ready to start shopping yet, so that you can get a good feel for what is and is not out there.
