If you were sent a large sum of money by check in advance, it is a scam. The mystery shopping company (MSC) might be legitimate but is being impersonated by scammers. The check will take a few days to bounce. Your bank will demand the money back. Recently, the scammers have been asking people to buy gift cards and to then send them the numbers and the pin numbers. Scam. No one gets paid in advance. Fees are rarely in the hundreds of dollars. You generally can not go anywhere you would like to buy gift cards.
