Beacon Retail Services

I received an email to sign up with Beacon Retail Services. They claim to be new and located in Rockford, MI. Has anyone heard of them or worked for them?

Beth,
This has come up in the Mystery Shopping Company Discussion, as it is a new company and was not known if it was MSC or merch company...here is the link...hope you find it helpful.

Thank you and sorry, for a duplicate post. I didn't see the other in the Mystery Shopping section.
I received an email from Beacon Retail Services too, and they said they require a W-2 before I could take a job. There was no last name and only a PO address in Rockford, MI.
I am not sending them a W-2 with my SS# until I find out more.
When you state they "look safe" what evidence are you using to make that determination? They only have a PO Box and only use first names in their email and there website: RED FLAGS.

I have worked directly under Becky Paukner when she handled the merchandising assignments for the now defunct Joy Ventures. I'm sure she would be willing to answer all your questions. Here is her email addy:
pauknerb@beaconretailservices.com
But I can assure you that this is a LEGIT company. HTH

And just to correct something you posted, it's NOT a W-2 they require, it's a W-9....this is directly from their website:
You may send your completed W-9 to the following address:
Attention: Human Resources
PO Box 194
Rockford, MI 49341
or email to hr@beaconretailservices.com
"LOOKS?"
Glad you are SO confident. You base it off one email looks.....

Canada,
I know there are always lots of questions when a new company is mentioned, and rightly so! However, as far as this company goes, I, personally, do have some knowledge of one of the main people involved with it, since I worked under her when she worked for the now-defunct Joy Ventures. (And that person is the afore-mentioned Becky Paukner, whose name and email addy is in a post I place above). And sure, I understand, that just because all went well for me as far as jobs, pay, etc, with the former company, that is no guarantee about a new company. With Beacon Retail, I was one of the "testers" who tried out the website while it was in BETA mode, since I had been one of the regular, faithful workers with the former company. So all I can say is that this new company IS a legit company. Whether or not anyone wants to sign up with them is an individual matter. They hope to have jobs available sometime in January.

Oh good lord, CM, it's a merchandising company, not a shopping company. I know lots of merchandising companies who don't have work posted on their websites but they do have plenty of work available. It's just not work that any random person who signs up and logs in can see. Let's be patient, shall we? I for one have plenty of work so I am not chomping at the bit, and it's early yet.
Been merchandising YEARS thank you very much. I understand merchandising. How many planograms have YOU written? I understand the system. And no it is not early. Not at all.

CM, the stores I merchandise provide the plan-o-grams. I do not work for the stores, I work for a few different merchandising companies and have been for many years. When I go into the store (I am team lead for resets), I meet with the manager, who provides the plan-o-grams, and then I meet with my team. There have been times when the plan-o-grams were not correct because the shelf lengths were incorrect or there was some other sort of inaccuracy, in which case I have to meet with the manager again to discuss improvisations. At that point there may be some alterations to the plan-o-gram, but we do not "write" the plan-o-grams, LOL.
Got a nice email yesterday from Becky @ Beacon Retail, letting those of us who are considered the Premium shoppers know that shops would be coming to various parts of the country at different times and in different numbers, as merchandising shops usually do. Those of us who were the testers are supposed to hear first about the jobs and will have 48 hrs to accept/decline before it goes to the regular level merchandisers. So we'll see how it goes!
Yes, I got the same email. Looking forward to seeing what kind of projects they have for us!
Me too, JAS! I used to do a LOT of merchandising....about 30-35 hrs/wk....for close to 7 years. But I'm basically retired now, and just do some MS'ing and a bit of merchandising if something easy comes along. With Beacon, I hope they'll get some of the small jobs in their mix...like placing IRC's, or tags on bottle necks, or checking to see if POS ads are up....small stuff like that. My days of lots of heavy merchandising, especially in 7 Walmarts, are done! Becky seems real nice, too. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to offer.
Hi there, I am basically new in the merchandising end. I used to do merchandising a few years ago. Now, I am also looking for small jobs. Please let me now when they come up. I am in VA. Talk to you real soon.
You have to look look for your own jobs.
