Privacy for forum members

Why don't we have a privacy rule... I just had my zip posted and need the moderator to remove it. I want to know how another member gets your personal zip and why they would want it. This is not acceptable, allowing members to use false names and then allowing a member to post your zip without question seems unresponseable. Those with knowledge about this, please inform me.

Please report that to the mods. I had no idea that that is what that post was, or I would have done it myself. You and I have had disagreements, but that crosses a line that should never be breeched.

I am reporting to jacob, it was not you but an old time poster that wrote you on "that" thread with my zip and hasn't posted in at least a year.

A suggestion: Delete your messages acknowledging what it is. That way, if there are other folks who should not have your zip, they will not understand the significance of the post any more than I did at the time.

There's a lot of very odd stuff going on in this forum lately, in the last 6 months or so. People get to crap on my threads/posts and not get moderated, mods that pretend they aren't but is obvious from their posts, people getting personal information, people jumping all over new posters because they don't convey information as well as the oh-so-astute peeps here think they should I've experienced forum members who know my personal information and used it to create perceived disadvantages for me. I can't do anything about it though except to understand some company's members will believe that the few posts I make here are all-encompassing and they would be companies I don't want to work for in that case anyway. I'm not on here to boost my resume and impress people. I saw that and I'm sure that's another one of moosehoose's alter names who did that Irene_.L.A.. Whoever it is, I hope they get tossed.

Shouldn't the mods see it, that is their job.

I really don't know exactly what a mod's role is here. I do know that making a report should draw their attention to it, if it doesn't get noticed right away. I had no idea what the significance of it was, so it is likely that a mod would not know either if s/he were to read it.

I wrote it here, of course they know now. The mods have or can get our info., you know that don't you?

They have the email address I gave them...

He had no idea what the significance was because he was only looking at his side of that 'situation' or he's lying again.
Was MF around when a mod got removed for posting info about someone? He may not know the story behind this.

It is much easier to glean information about someone than many people realize.

One thing people do is use the same screen name on different websites/forums/etc. All someone has to do is google a screen name and those other websites will come up. Add in a couple of “key words” (such as state, city, first or last name) and even more information can be found.

It is much MUCH easier to find information than it may seem.

Megs, I realize that you did it just to prove a point. But for another forum member to have searched for and then posted info about someone else is a little on the creepy side and also very uncool.

I went back and edited my post because I felt funny (wrong) leaving it & I agree with you.

I just think it is so much easier to find information than many folks realize.
First, I am not on another forum and have not been for 7+ years. My real questions is who cares and what does one get out of it beside showing they are nosey. yes, of course info. can be found, but nothing is up to date, or changed, I could have moved. Why a forum member (as yourself) would choose to do it, baffles me, and i want the moderators to remove it. I have reported this to jacob.

Irene, Megs changed it. All of us at one time or another have posted something that we regretted. She regretted it and changed it much faster than I have done when posting something I should not have in the past...
To be clear: The only people I have "researched ":

1. The fellow who posted the other day offering work to us and saying he was hoping to "disrupt" the industry. He encouraged us to look him up because we could not get straight answers about what he was offering. I used "Google" and spent all of fifteen minutes on it. Yes, he had a ton of personal information made very available to anybody who wanted.

2. The owner of NSS who took his own life when I tried to find information on the company and contact numbers.

3. The only other folks I "research" are those that apply to lease a home I rent out. I run criminal and financial background checks on them.

4. I have never lied on this forum. I resent the continuous false accusations.

Who mentioned you????? I have every right to be concerned and post my concerns, I mentioned Password Not Found as the culpert.
What is your problem? Stop trying to shut me up won't work, ask my fellow members, and stop stalking me.

@Irene_L.A.
My initials "MF" were used. Is that not me? In reference to MF, this was written:
"He researches enough to know, but I can't say for sure...seems like anyone can get any info., trying hard enough, just sayin. My zip was posted on this forum, that's proof..."

This was posted immediately after my previous post:
"He had no idea what the significance was because he was only looking at his side of that 'situation' or he's lying again."

MFJ, I know who Irene is referring to and it's an old forum member who never posts here anymore. Don't be so defensive.
Irene did not use your initials.

It all looks pretty vague to me, I can't tell who she was talking about but she didn't use your initials. Moving on.
It is a bit creepy, if forum members are taking the time and trouble to try to find other member's zip codes. And then posting the information on the forum.

Anyway, I'm sure the moderators will deal swiftly with such cases.

How do you know it was your zip code? Meaning, why do you think he/she/it was posting about you? I've just posted the zip codes of 5 forum members.

Granted, I have NO idea who those 5 members are, but I'm sure there are forum members in those zip codes!

"Let me offer you my definition of social justice: I keep what I earn and you keep what you earn. Do you disagree? Well then tell me how much of what I earn belongs to you - and why?” ~Walter Williams
I expect he picked 5 random zip codes in big cities (Chicago, New York, and St. Louis certainly qualify, I'm not so sure about Vallejo and Irvine California but there are likely 1 or 2 members in those zip codes) and posted them to prove a point that just because your zip code is posted it doesn't necessarily mean you were targeted by the poster. I don't know for sure what the motivation was but it's possible.
