Looking for Movie Assignments

I am trying to find movie assignments, whether it is an open check a covert check or a simple trailer check. If anybody could let me know about reliable, user-friendly MSPS that do these checks or other movie-related checks please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it! I do not do standees, by the way.

Thank you, Irene-La. I have signed up with Confero, but have not seen any movie-related assignments. Maybe they just don't have them in my neck of the woods.
They have many out for Dec. in my neck of the woods, guess it's all about location.

Look at the bottom of the thread, and you'll see "More Discussions About Trailer Checks and Movie Theater Mystery Shopping" -- click on those links, and you will find more information.
I signed up with the "Purple" haven't got anything from them for anything. I'm shopping NOCAL. They seem to have a lot of theater assignments but so far I haven't gotten any of them.

Thank you very much for your info. It was very helpful. I got several productive ideas from that advice. Thanks again.

If they are talking picky editors, I don't think CFA is correct. Most of their reports don't even have a need for editing.
Sun & Fun:

Thank you for the tip. It is appreciated, although I happened to find Service Sleuth on my own on another part of this forum. Thanks again. You know, its amazing how user-friendly this Forum is. I Wish the rest of life could be like this, although the shock would probably kill me (LOL!)
Keep in mind that the MSC have only 1 or 2 theatre chains. I am looking for Rave.
Cyn
I specialize in theater assignments and never saw any for the Rave chain.

Would be curious to know if in fact they are shopped or not...

And Goodwin does one of the top five largest theater chains who's first letter is at the very beginning of the alphabet...BUT don't shop for them as you will never, ever get paid without a fight..

I think at some point you said you shopped for Certified. If I am right, how has it been?
Cyn
Certified got too cheap with their theater evaluations as they no longer pay a fee to do them and should pay like all the other msc's are doing...
I got "run off the island" by Certified because they claimed I had too many cancellations. I dispute that, but they do have the upper hand after all. I got run off prior to their apparent policy chance that was mentioned, so I don't know what's up with that. In the past their pay was okay, however.
ICCDS e-mails all the time for some type of movie assignments around here.

Thanks for the heads-up, Lisa. I am in San Antonio, Texas. I don't know where you are, but assingments do vary by area, of course. I'll go ahead and sign up though. There should be something there, movies or otherwise. Thanks again. You're my buddy, after all.
Try VeriTES. Their website is www.verites.com. They used to be called Theatrical Entertainment Services. Years ago I did many different theater jobs for them.
Thanks for the heads-up,vanicek. I am alrady signed up eith them, The scheduler is not very user-friendly (we'll just leave it at that) but they contact me irregularly for gigs. I once saw sombody installing standees while I was on another unrelated gig, and he concurred with me about the the scheduler's un-user-friendliness. (hey, I may have created a new phrase here).
What are trailer checks? I saw a posting somewhere or other in my travels and was curious what that entailed.

Trailer checks are the previews that are shown before the actual movies. With a trailer check you are to jot down the exact names of the "trailers" that are shown. With some MSC's and their clients, you are to also check on the percentages of men, women and children, and also to jot down the reactions of those various patrons. Again, with some MSC's and/or their clients, you are instructed not to watch the movie. With other MSC's you are permitted to watch the movies if theatre management allows you to watch. As to this part, most mangers will allow you to watch if you ask them nicely. Be sure to figure out what the MSC and their clients have directed you to do or not do before you accept the assignment. Be sure to print out 2 copies of the letter of aythorixatio allowing you to get in at no charge. You need 2 because the manager will usually request one and it is somwhat of a courtesy to keep them happy if you automaticall leave them one. and the person checking tickets will usually need to at least see one.

They are pretty easy, but they don't pay as much as an open check or a blind check because they don't take as long to do. Hope this helps.

Ciao eltonj
I've been working with VeriTes consistently for 3yrs...It was difficult to get work from them initially...they'd do a mass email to everyone listing the trailer checks and locations and you were to respond...everything was 1st come 1st served...after about 3mos on playing this game and being told someone else had been assigned...the next time I replied that I was available for the locations in my area but for them not to bother replying if I was not to get the assignment...this got me a phone call from a scheduler who was humored by my reply...gave me the assignments and I have been assigned these 3-4 theaters every since...you have to establish a re-pore with the schedulers...there aren't that many at Verites...

They have undergone some restructuring and the pay has decreased somewhat for trailers...the other problem with is they pay slow and they aren't as automated as most MSC's...one would never know it but they do Mystery shops as well...but mostly movies...the other disadvantage id that you are at the mercy of the scheduler...there is no online assignment search...they either email or call you with available assignments...

I usually know on Monday or Tuesday evening if there are any trailer checks in my area...this weekend I had trailers for New Year's Eve at 2 locations, a Lobby check at one of the same locations...starting Monday I have Coke Audits at 2 locations, these I have a week to complete...
I'm anticipating getting assignments tomorrow for the Fri 16th...I think Mission Impossible comes out this Friday...

They are headquartered in Burbank, CA...nice digs in the Capitol Records bldg...however...I do know that they have schedulers in other parts of the US for Theaters outside of CA...you're in SA...maybe you're not dealing with a scheduler in the home office...

Sorry to have gotten so lengthy...but if you want to work for them you have to be persistent(politely)...once you establish that re-pore you're good to go...

I think there's someway you can email me personally on this forum...if so, do so and I will give you some contacts at the home office that maybe able to help you get in...(blaqwumin@hotmail.com)
