MSPA certification

I am fairly new at mystery shopping...is it to my benefit to become certified? If so where do I do this online? Does it cost me anything?

But have you found certification to be helpful. I have been mystery shopping for 6 years and have not found it necessary.

It depends alot on where you live. I'm in OC Calif. We have shoppers coming out of our ears, and I believe that my gold cert. has given me a leg up at times. (Especially if I'm requesting a shop from a MSP I don't have a track record with.)

OTOH, you may not find it necessary at all if there's not much competition for shops in your area.

I do know that some MSPs (not sure how many) send out email shop notifications to gold shoppers first.

Joan,

Did you get the Gold at a conference or from the DVD? If it was the conference, how was it? What did you like the best or not like? I have a Silver, think it has helped some, and hope to go to the Gold conference when it is closer to home.

I got my gold in May'07 when they had a workshop close to me. It was great talking to the schedulers (although there weren't many). The give and take is the best part of an in person workshop. You just can't get that on a dvd.
