I am going a little nutsy with some Remington shops and am not sure if it is my ADD or them or a combination and would love some input. I am finding their instructions to be detailed to the point of absurdity--and contradictory. Email the community two days before you call. Later instructions say email them two days before or one day after. I called the scheduler and she told me (VERBALLY) not to worry about that...to send the email today and then start making the phone calls. I started to question that and she said "you called me for help, so be quiet while I tell you what to do." I really have no choice but to follow her directions.
I did one shop for them already. I had to put in more narrative concerning the phone call portion. I thought I explained everything in nauseating detail, but they wanted more. I checked and saw they had closed out the report, given me a rating (an 8 but commented I had done an EXCELLENT job) and indicated how much I would be paid. (Apparently, no bonus for reporting the shop within 12 hours because--I'm guessing--they had to get back to me for details). About an hour later, I found an email from the owner telling me to send her details about the phone shop in an email. I called the scheduler to find out what/why. The scheduler said she thought it had been closed but would check.
Am I over thinking this? I am ADD and get flustered when there is TOO much detail. I feel like my head is spinning.
A tough nut they are. Competitive pay, straight forward reports, an ICA that's ridiculous. In my area, their shops are high crime/subsidized properties. I have parked my economy car around the corner, dressed down, and still never go back.
I'm 10/10, though feel no right to bragging rights.
Don't overthink. Take their 'guidelines' with a hefty dose of unwritten second-guessed common sense realism, based on your shopper experience.
yeah I am doing two low-income shops this week. I have sent out the emails and have to make the phone calls tomorrow.
I have complained about MSCs micromanaging before, but I have never seen it to this extent. The instructions even "dictated" the exact wording of the email.I then get verbal messages from the scheduler not to worry about all that.
A glutton for punishment, I did two Remington shops today. I did the emails and telephone calls. Got my targets on the second call. Went to place A in the morning. The leasing agent was sweet, as was the receptionist. Except for the fact there was a stink bug in the kitchen, not bad. did another entirely other shop on my way to property B. I was half an hour early, so I called from my car and asked to speak with the LA. A receptionist asked for my name and the reason for my call. She asked me to hold and, presumably she talked to my target to tell her I was on the phone. When the receptionist came back, she told me target said she thought I was coming tomorrow, but added, that's ok, come on in. A woman was standing in the doorway of her office. She asked if she could help me, in a tone suggesting she would rather have root canal work done. I asked for my target and she said "That's me. I thought you were coming tomorrow. Nope... reminded her of our conversation. Oh,yeah. Duh. She gave me some forms to read and sign and left me at a table. Another woman comes into the room where I am working and says hello. Meanwhile Target is in her office, on the phone. The second woman comes back and says Ms. Jersey? It was the receptionist from place A. !!! I say hello and indicate I am looking at this place for my mom. She looks at me like I have two heads. Turns out, even though my instructions indicated this was a senior citizen community it was not. The second woman goes into Target's office and whispers something. Target says "No, really????" They whisper some more. The second person comes out and tells me she is going to take me to see the apartment, which she did. I called the scheduler as soon as I could. I don't think this is going to be a problem but...

And you got how much for the shop? Was it worth it?
Things to think about before you take another!
I did one shop for them last year, They offer these bonuses if you do so and so. But of course you do so and so and then they found a reason not to put one of the bonuses on there. I haven't done another. I shop for companies where my work is of value. I don't have time for games so I just move on.
ok It's official...the winner (loser) goes to Remington. This is The WORST company I have worked for. I previously posted about a couple of shops I did in two towns. The first was a income-restricted community. I was instructed to shop for myself, which I did. PITA project, including asking a question via Rent.com or Apartments.com., making a telephone call, the visit, and then filling out a nauseatingly repetitive report. The second shop was supposedly for a senior-citizen community for my mother. Same email, phone call, visit, reporting PITA. I did the first shop with no hitch. The leasing agent did an adequate job. I also met the receptionist. Since this was a small office, there was no way to avoid the receptionist--not that I would have wanted to since one of the questions concerned who else I met. A couple of hours later I did the second shop. The receptionist was there. Turns out she works part time at each place. Also turns out the second place was NOT a senior citizen community. The target agent handed me off to the receptionist. I called the scheduler after I did the shop and she told me not to worry about it, that it was not my fault I was passed off. I also told her about the situation with the receptionist--that she worked at both places--and that the community was not a senior citizen community. The scheduler told me to just complete the report and not to worry so much. I completed both reports. Now, I am being told I was spotted as a shopper..DUH...I told them that. And that they are going to have to re-shop the agent. I have already sent an email to the owner, reiterating the circumstances and insisting on payment.
Piled High... Nope. I did one shop, thought hmmmm. I am bright. I can do this. PITA but wtf, I can do it. I am woman, hear me roar. etc. Now this.
Mert. Thanks. I have not heard back from Sarah Leeke and I doubt I will.
In the vernacular of my grandma Sadie...they have gone from meshugenah (crazy) to gonif (thief).
I am afraid to make too much of this lest they find some reason not to pay me for the shop the first shop I did. Using their logic, since the second person "spotted" me as a shopper for the second place, it only makes sense I was a shopper for the first place.
And just to be crystal clear....what upset me most is I went over everything with the scheduler who told me NOT TO WORRY. I spent at least 1.5 hours filling out their insane reports after I was told not to worry.
And, just as a footnote....I was very complementary re: the woman who showed me around. I cannot imagine why she would then turn around and say she spotted me as a shopper. What does she have to gain. Remington says they are going to reshop the community. She might get a bad report. Then what is she going to say.
