Movie Tickets

I have been doing shops for a few months now and really enjoying it. How do I find the companies that do movie theaters?

Depending on what part of the country you are in, Service Check does some movie theaters and I noticed that Mintel is currently doing a "Sound Check" in some theaters that will allow you to see the movie and get paid. Generally, though, movie jobs tend to be for a specific chain and in a specific area or monitoring for a specific program. Different companies are likely to have them, so keep watching Jobslinger.com for companies shopping in your area and make sure you are signed up with them and watching their job boards.
Mintel has shops for movie theaters. They reimburse for 1 ticket and pay you. I do not particularly care to pay upfront for a movie. Since I have comcast broadband, there are so many free movies on their. Also, pay in demand pictures you can watch in the comfort of your own home.
csaskin,

What state are you in???

Servicesleuth.com does them, but you don't get paid back for 90 days.
The shop requires a narrative plus about 100 questions. Not bad though either considering a free movie, concession reimbursement and a $9.00 fee.
P.S.--National Shopping Service does specialized BIG SCREEN FORMAT **** shops only , but no other theater chains.

[services.mintel.com]. Debdeam you requested this site. I have never shopped with them, but keep in mind there have been several complaints on this site about Mintel. Good luck.
I have shopped for Mintel for quite some time and found their shops fairly priced and their folks good to deal with as long as you did what you were supposed to do. Several of their shops I had problems with and they found good work-arounds. I have always been paid and reimbursed as agreed and in the agreed upon time frame. It breaks my heart that they have had nothing around me this year that I could do.
I saw that someone mentioned Certified Field Associates. Watch out for this company. They will pay, but they will fire you for no reason. They got me and my mom.
Yes beware of Certified---I would really suggest not working for them at all.

They fired me for no reason........or maybe the reason was I wouldn't answer their 14 calls before 8 am on a Sunday morning.

They truly are the worst I've worked for and I work for over 50

For those of you who got into trouble with Certified, I've worked with them constantly for a year and a half. I did have one problem, but it got fixed. As to calls on Sunday morning, they say in their instructions that if you don't do the report or call them after the movies are over, they will call you even if it is Sunday morning. The drawback to doing movies is the long night, and is primarily the reason I don't do them any more. Since the rise in gas prices, I pulled back on my geographical availability and that has drastically cut back on what I can do for Certified, but I still have standing local merchandising assignments with them.
I do about one movie a month for Certified. I did one tonight, in fact. I think they may not have may shoppers in my area. They call me all the time to do stuff out of my driving range, and I always decline. I have been paid very promptly (under 30 days) by them. I have not gotten the dreaded letter yet, but I know it could happen. In the mean time, they were purchased by Marketforce, so may well end up on the self-scheduling board there soon, as one of my previous favs, SG did. The pay is low, the forms are super easy 5 minute fill in and with extremely minimal comments, and I find the people nice when they call me, or when I have had to call to reschedule. They are bad at tracking things you have to send them, though. I have had to repeat faxes on occasion-no uploaded receipts allowed for the ones I have done here in HI.

For Certified Reports, you need to buy your ticket with cash and come in a group. Then, you need to count the seats and people that watch that movie (movie is chosen by CR). On the job's day, you need stay for each show of the chosen movie and repeat the process for each. For instance, if the movies is the X-Files, you need to buy the tickets for the 1st show of the day (matinee) & movie, do the counting and exit the theater. Buy tickets for the 2nd show of the day (2nd matinee, same movie) and do the counting again, then exit the theater again. And the process continues over and over again until you have gone to all shows of the day for that particular movie. The tickets have to be purchased in cash and you need to have a different person to buy the tickets each time. You are reimbursed for two tickets only regardless of the number of tickets you end up buying. IMO, it is not worth it.

I think I am giving up on this. I am not really good at writing and 8 dollars for 100 questions is too much.
Forget it. Go do other shops with other MSP's. 100 Q would should ruin the movie for me.
It seems to be 100 questions for everything and two paragraphs for narratives. Too many question, too much writing and when they pay you $8.00, that's what gas costs just to get there.
You're not registered with enough MSP's. I'm in only my 6th month, and I make about $525/month. Some friends make $1200. You have to learn to prune out the unsuitable companies and cheap jobs. It takes time.
Yes, csaskin, that kind of shop is definitely not worthwhile. Wherever you are located there HAS to be better shops available than that. I did a cheap shop today ($5 + $3 bonus + $15 reimbursement for something I can use) that perhaps had 25 blanks to be filled in, including the date, time in and time out and about 6 involving description of the associate. There were 4 comments type narratives that needed only 3-5 sentences to satisfy completely and 3 other narrative blocks that would have required the same kind of depth if there had been "No" or "Other" answers. Finally there was a totally elective comments box (and I would never ever leave one of those blank). It took perhaps 20 minutes to scan and upload the receipt plus do the survey for what really amounts to a $23 job since I would have purchased the item anyway but hadn't gotten around to doing so yet. And the shop will become more lucrative because there is a $4 mail in rebate available on the item purchased.
Not all assignments for Certified are the same as was described. Mine are not, but they are done through the Mystery Shopping Division. I check the rest room twice, buy popcorn and a drink, get reimbursed for 2 adult tickets, and watch one movie. I have to arrive 1/2 hour ahead and I count the patrons. The report is easy-very. Virtually NO narrative. I get paid $8 bucks plus reimbursed for all expenses. I nab this whenever I can. I have done trailer checking for them as well. One screen, one movie, they reimbursed the ticket and I made $8 to check the boxes of what trailers were shown and if the audience "reacted" negatively, well, or not at all.

I have been working with Certified for over three years. I have not had any of the problems that everyone else is experiencing. I lived in Texas until 2007 and had a route of five theatres that I performed audits for. I have done revealed, undercover, and seat count only. I love it. I don't mind being there all day either. I get caught up on my reading of a book or take my laptop and play games. I try not to watch the whole movie until the end of the night that way I don't get burned out on it. I take a bag of snacks so I don't have to go to the concession stands too often. I take jackets, hats, and hoodies so I can change my look while I am there. I never buy more than two tickets the whole day. My last assignment with them I got paid $180.00 so I say its worth it. Good luck.

P.S. I have also done Service Check but don't make any money with them since it is usually only one show not all day.

Shop til I drop
Regarding Mintel.....I realized I signed up with them a while ago. But, I never receive any assignments from them via e-mail. I just went to their main website and couldn't even find a link for shoppers to log in. I only saw the link for clients to log in. Do they have a shopper log in link on their site that I'm missing? If so, can someone please post it here. Thanks.
Regarding Certified....be careful they call me one Sunday to do two shop. It was about 9am the morning and she wanted it done by 2pm. I told her one is to the south and the other is to the north, I was told to try. It took a little longer than that, when I came home their was a call on my phone at 6 mins after 2pm and I was lock out of their system. I did work for them a while before this happen and had no problem. I also did enjoy doing trailer check with them.
Thanks for that posting regarding Certified, I don't think we need any more proof regarding how horrible this company operates and their attitude towards us, as shoppers. AGain, shame on Certified! It seems they are averaging one sad story per week on here!
