Next thing they will say is we will give you a quarter to make the call!

I bet that someone will sign up for them though! ;-o
I used to do $3 automotive sales call shops and won't bother with them anymore because they require narrative about every part of a 2 minute phone call - I hate that.
wow...this is simply ridiculous. $1.75 phone calls? Do these people really think that someone will sign up?

Unfortunately, they're right. People DO sign up, which is why they get away with it. I won't do any phone calling for under $6 and the ones under $10 must be very simply and straight forward. It's a matter or principle and what I feel my time is worth.

I know! I was think 1960 wages when I saw that....
I rarely do phone calls because I won't take the chance of getting stuck doing a $15 report for $5 or less. It's happened so many times, (Intellishop, Customer Service Experts), I've pretty much given up on P/Cs completely. I think they are stressful and would rather just go do a shop. With that being said, I will still do them if I can see the report ahead of time and know it can be done quickly.

This week, I was offered an on-going project of monthly phone calls. Thinking this would be easy, I let the scheduler know I was interested. She gets back to me and tells me the salary. Are you sitting down? $1 per call! I told her I was no longer interested. She said, but it only takes about 5 minutes per call. And the report? Oh, it's very short, she says. Yeah, and I don't work for $12/hour or less, so sorry.

Worse part is we all know some poor sucker (i.e. newbie) took these on and is all proud to be making $12/hour without leaving their home.

I don't do phone shops for less than $5 and they have to give me more than 4. $20 an hour (even though the call is less than 5 min, the reports take a total of 15-20 minutes), is fair pay. If they send me less than 4, I request to be unassigned and explain why. That has happened only once, and they came back and gave me more so I would do them. Sometimes negotiating works best.
I've done some $2 shops, but they were recorded with Vocalzilla, quick calls, and had three questions on the report - no nartative. The report took maybe two minutes if that. I could hav e completed 7 or 8 in an hour.
