Post Office Shop ?'s

mail to self? don't you have to use different zip codes? here they do... so, I am mailing my very cranky DH a box of chocolates.

Been awhile since I've done these.. i have a box A, so, I have to use that long box then at the PO? I hate that size, it's like for a dress or shirts or something.. i'm doing a po. that has a LOT of b*tches, so, yes, I can be ethical, but, it'll be easy.....

I mail cans of corn and the Sunday coupon ads to my cousin. At Thanksgiving and Christmas we had a giggle about her corn casserole. She is getting 3 cans this week.
Do you think that they wonder why the box is being shipped from city A, state A from the PO in village A, state B to someone in city B state A? I know that sounds confusing. But, the USPS is just up the road and it is across the state line. But, I am using an adult childs addy to send it to me. So, I am actually sending a box to and from me. I did not understand if it was the zone of the USPS or the city from/to for the zones? Can someone help me with that ? Oh, I had a group of USPS yesterday and all had to be rescheduled. That is a total of all shops of 7 shops all weekend. Bah humbug!

thanks....

Your A's and B's are confusing. The return address on the box doesn't matter. The destination zip code needs to be in a different zone than the actual post office you are sending it from.

BGriffin, that is what I was wondering but I didn't know how to phrase it? My mind was fried the night I posted that. I am sorry. To many taxes lol. I am thrilled for a program I am using to help me with my taxes, mileage and receipts, etc. Gosh, I even upload every photo I need for the shop I do until I know all is well.

I have put packages together and use the boxes over and over again. I tape them all around with clear tape so the post office lables come off easily.

I tape a "From/ to" mailing label on the package and send the package to myself! For the return address I can put any friend or relative's address. (I only have to ask the friend or relative if I can use their name and address once and they never see the package because it comes back to me.) They never know how many times I mailed a package for them to my address. Depending on which town I am in I can use several friends return address.

The packages are filled with an old CD or two or three just in case the post office opens the package. That is why I use so much newspaper in the box to add weight and protect the CD's from breaking.

When I receive the package I remove the mailing label as that is where the post office will normally put the priority mail and postage stickers. Now I have a clear box ready for another mailing label which I print on the computer and tape to the box for scenario A. or tape to the Ready post mailer if it is a scenario B.

Use cash rather than a credit card as you do not want to use your own credit card to mail a package to yourself.

For the poster that uses a priority mail box...That is a no no! You must use a ready post Mailer so the clerk can offer you a choice of services. If you use a priority box you take away that question. Which is why the guidelies tell you to use a mailer or ready post box.

Hi MissChele, I moved to Sun City West, AZ in July. You can have the wholeeeeeee city. lol

Check out a thread about "Post Office Buddies" too. I started that up a while back to facilitate MSers mailing packages of junk paper back and forth to each other. Lately, I've been sending dog biscuits or cat food to animal shelters because all my PO buddies were back east and it costs too much to go over zone 4.

I did 12 Scenario C shops in November. I got permission to send stuff to my daughter in zone 7 instead of a food bank. I was able to stuff lots of Christmas presents in those big cartons that shipped for nearly $42 each. Then I didn't have to take the presents on the plane in December. So it doesn't have to be a can of corn to a food bank. Check with your scheduler.

Today I Will Choose Joy!

"Finally, whatever things are good, true, noble, lovely, of good report...if there be any virtue, if there be any praise...think on these things." ....It's a command, not a suggestion!

send the books to yourself. Use your buddy name and address as the return address. You will never have to open the package. just replace the mailing label (which should cover the entire top of the box where the clerk will put the priority mail and postage sticker.) When you get the box back carefully cut off the mailing label and put another label on it addressed to yourself. Check the sides of the box for stray priority mail stickers and remove them.

Use cash if you are mailing to yourself. It is better than trying to explain why you are using your credit card to mail yourself a package to yourself with your buddy's return address on the package.
