Food Thermometers & Digital Voice Recorders

Many food shops require a food thermometer. I've found dozens of them on the internet, but have no clue which one to buy. Any suggestions?

I'm also considering getting a digital voice recorder. I can put it in my pocket or bag and record an entire shop, then I can get any required timings from playback and get exact responses. So many companies want to know EXACTLY what was said, it's often difficult to remember exact words and you can't write it down until you return to your car or at least out of view of the store. By that time, the exact wording may have escaped you. Any thoughts?

Usually a company that requires you to take food temps provides the themometer that they want you to use. You may either have to pay for it, or "work it off", but I have found companies try and make their "fee" reasonable.
As far as a voice recorder, I use either the one on my camera phone, or if pictures are not required, a small hand held recorder from someplace like Radio Shack, K-Mart, Wal-Mart for about 30.00 works well.

I have done a few shops that required a food thermometer. At first, I thought it was something unusual, but when I read the information, I found it was nothing more than the thermometer that you stick in the turkey at Thanksgiving to make sure it is done. You can get a new one at your local grocery store in the housewares aisle.

I use a digital voice recorder most of the time for my shops. It really helps. I do not want to go without it, now.
