How does a scheduler become a scheduler?

My wife is very good with organization. I am the goto guy. I feel quite comfortable in my skin being out in the marketplace shopping. My wife would never feel comfortable doing the shops, but she has expressed an interest about the schedulers that constantly contact me for assignments. It excites me that she wants to participate in a greater way. Believe me, she does a tremendous job keeping the office! This is where the question stems from. How did you become a scheduler if you are one? Or: "How does one become a scheduler?

You just have to be very unlucky and it sneaks up on you.....

Seriously though, like most jobs, you need to build a relationship with an MSC or scheduling company, then express the knowledge and ability. I occasionally see postings, but most schedulers I know started as editors. I was an editor for a year or two with an MSC before I was offered a scheduling position.
Contact schedulers that you work with. As I understand it, it is not an easy job nor does it pay well and , as you can imagine very stressful. That is just what I have been told.
