Did any scheduler ask you to shop at another State with regular fee?

I got a call from a scheduler who wanted me to take a shop at another state. I thought at first she was joking,so I asked her some questions like location?(I thought it was a street name from where live... her answer: address from another state about 300miles away), how much is the bonus?(answer: none, regular fee $10 +$6 reimbursement), did you know that I live in another state?(ans:Yes.... pause... so can I schedule you?)

Sometimes schedulers are not real bright. And sometimes shoppers aren't either. That scheduler may have lucked out in the past and found a shopper willing to do a job 300 miles away at regular fee (because they were dumb? going to be there anyway? wanted to get their foot in the door?). Even with a hybrid vehicle getting 50+ mpg the fee wouldn't even start to cover gas costs, much less time costs.

I only get email requests for other states with regular fees, though lately I have not been seeing requests for jobs in Alaska (I'm in the SE US). I think that if I got a phone call such as yours I would be very hard pressed to keep the sarcasm out of my voice.
Yes, many schedulers are geographically challenged, or worse. I suspect that the post office abbreviations for Alaska and Alabama, lead some to mix up those shops. I get requests for Massachusetts (MA) all the time, but live 300+ miles away in Maryland (MD).

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I always ask have you looked at a map to see where these are? They almost always say no. How hard is it to pull up google maps and look?

The best is I received a genric email yesterday from a scheduler saying shops are bonused already this month. So I looked, and I was amazed, they put a ONE DOLLAR bonus on each shop, which are already low paying for the work involved(7 dollar base fee).

I'd say that scheduler is either geographically challenged or has b@llZ of steel! I'm in So Cal and always get emails for shops in San Bernardino area. NOT!

I'm limiting myself to a 10- 20 mile radius, one time I did drive down to San Clemente, but they gave me 3 shops to do, close to each other and it was for the old Pinkerton, who always paid well and on time. Gas wasn't so dear then either. Too bad they disappeared, not too bad that the one they morphed into disappeared.
I'm sure they looked at a map and saw it was only about an inch from your location to the job. Jeez, it couldn't take that long!

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I never got a call, but do at times receive an email for a job in Chicago (I live in L.A.). This is because I do a couple restaurants a year when visiting
my daughter who lives there. I just delete them. I think maybe they feel you
can do a run, as many do, but for one job,,,,,

Live consciously....
This is ridiculous....

Makes me wonder where "THEY" live (Schedulers) that they don't know: Las Vegas is 282 miles from Los Angeles....(as example)...

I am beginning to wonder....

I had a bank shop which was 60 miles a way (one way) and they did not want to pay more than $2-5 bonus and that was BEFORE gas shot up to near $4 a gallon...
Sometimes people have routes put together and picking up a shop for regular price 300+ miles away isn't a big deal.

I live in an area with several different states accesible to me, so taking a shop in a different state is not a big deal. Just over the hill and thru the woods to another shop I go......

Of course, if you weren't going that way, you could always ask for an outrageous bonus or if they had other shops to make it complete bonused route.
