Post Office - C

I have only started doing the post office shops since April 2012 (last month). This month I see you can send personal packages using scenerio C (DIM weight). Does this happen a lot or is this something new?

NO! And I have asked before since I often have stuff I can ship to my condo and I have always been told absolutely not. This would be great for me...going off to check it out.

Really? I was going to check it out, but there are no C shops in my area - only the B ones.

I hate C. I only do A and B. If I want to donate food, I'll do it locally, not in Spokane, WA......

Exactly. I'm not gonna lay out $40 to get paid $12.50...
But if I can send stuff to my condo in an oversized box and get the reimbursement back plus the pay I will go for it. I like the idea of the personal shop for this - I won't do it to send food to an unknown (to me) food bank.

Edited - ok I just checked and all of my C scenarios still go to food banks and personal packages are not an option.

Maybe this will change once I am assigned it, but this is in the job description:

"YOU MUST PERFORM SCENARIO C Dear BARE Evaluator, Have a special birthday or care package to send? If so, we are now allowing evaluators to send personal packages for their Dim Weight shops, if the package weighs at least a minimum of 2.5 pounds and no more than 3.5 pounds. Packages must be sent to a location between zones 5 to 8 and must be shipped in one of the four required dimensional size boxes."

It also says you can still ship to the food bank if you don't have a personal package to send.

NICE! for you! Now I need to go recheck and make sure I didn't misread....nope mine don't have that provision.

I am in NE Ohio and I have friends in Denver, CO. I think this could work out nicely. It is usually not worth shipping an item to them if it is over a pound. I will let you know if I get the assignment and it gets approved.
I did my first post office shop last month. I had to purchase my own box (reimbursed) and I was able to send my little grandson a few oneses and shorts. I brought it to work (I work in a doctors office) put it on the baby scale and was short 1 ounce, so I added a toy and sent it off. I was sooo thrilled to be able to do this, as I wouldn't have mailed it otherwise. So excited to have a way to send him little things without breaking my bank.
This one was Scenario D.
I wonder if other areas are different. There is NO option to send my package to anywhere except the designated food bank. The following is one I did this week.

Congratulations! You have been assigned to perform Scenario C, which is the Dim Weight Box Shop. We thank you for your efforts in giving back to those who need it the most! It is imperative that you review the assignment guidelines in detail prior to performing your assignment. After purchasing your dimensional weight parcel, please fill your box with non-perishable food items. Just the food items must weigh between 2.5 and 3.5 pounds, this does not include the weight of you dimensional box. You will find many recommendations in your assignment guidelines that will assist you with filling your box properly. After you have sealed your box, please write the following Food Bank address on your box and then you will be ready to visit the CPU . Please be sure that your package is shipped via Priority Mail. If shipped by any method other than Priority Mail (i.e.: Express Mail, Parcel Post, Media Mail, among others), you run the risk of your report not being accepted by our client. My shops read this:

"For this shop, all packages will be sent to pre-determined Food Banks. All
items shipped must be non-perishable food items. By completing this shop,
you will help fight hunger."

I don't want to part with my money for that long... so I rarely do the C scenario.
I wonder if they change it, when too much time has passed and they need it done. My last one said I could send it to anyone in zones 5-8, but I still sent it to the Food Bank. If something goes wrong (they don't charge you the extra for the large package) I think they might be able to verify the package size through the Food Bank.
