Cell Phone "Wallet" Shops

Hi everyone!

Wondering how everyone else is faring on these shops? I've done two this weekend and ran into technical difficulties both times. One store said their terminal was broken and the other was finally able to process the sale, but only after 26 minutes of trying. Anyone having better luck?

Thinging..thinking...really thinking, but can't figure out what a cell phone wallet shop is. Sorry, never heard of it. Can you be more specific? Are you paying by swiping your cell phone at the terminal? Are you buying a cell phone? Does the cell phone double as a wallet? Must be with a company I'm not signed up with, but I'd love to know what it is.

Hi MsJudi,

There is a small group of us, as far as I know, doing these, so I figured that anyone doing them would recognize the post title. Yep, it's testing out an app that serve as a digital wallet. It's been nice- we get to keep what we buy, which I rarely get to do. But, the app is new and no one seems to know how to use it at the stores, so like I said, I had a 26 minute checkout yesterday. Wanted to see what other people's experiences were...

Oh, I see. Thanks for clarifying. I did something like that a few years ago where I had to put a stick-on thing on my cell phone and use the cardless swipe to test the terminals. I also got to keep my purchases. It was fun and if I remember correctly it almost always worked fine.

I'm going out tomorrow to do my route with these shops. I'm excited to try it out. I wish I could keep the phone!

Are you participating in the focus group part, too?

Yep, I'm doing the focus group, too, so I guess I'll see you there! I don't care as much about keeping the phone as I do about keeping the app with the pre-loaded cash! :-) I did another one yesterday, by the way, and it was much smoother. It's the split tender ones that get them confused. Now I know how their system works and I wish I could just tell the next guy- just press this button here, but we have to let them suffer through it! Good luck on your route and see you in June!
